“The California Honeydrops…evoke the greasy rumble of Booker T and channel the spiritual ecstasy of Sly and the Family Stone.” -Rolling Stone

Formed in the subway systems of Oakland, retro-soul outfit The California Honeydrops are an electrifying group that defy convention at every turn. They’ve become a mainstay at festivals including Byron Bay Bluesfest (Australia), Outside Lands, Monterey Jazz, Lightning In A Bottle, and touring with B.B. King, Dr. John, Bonnie Raitt, Buddy Guy, and Allen Toussaint. Led by the enigmatic and energetic frontman, Lech Wierzynski, and drummer Benjamin Malament, each member of the band is a virtuoso in their own rite — Yanos “Johnny Bones” Lustig on saxophone, Lorenzo Loera on keyboards/guitar, Beaumont Beaullieu on bass, and regularly accompanied by Scott Messersmith on percussion, Oliver Tuttle on trombone, Leon Cotter on saxophone/clarinet, and Miles Lyons on trombone/sousaphone — navigating through a vast repertoire of original songs and timeless classics every night. But what truly sets them apart is their unwavering commitment to the art of improvisation – a skill so finely honed that they have completely abandoned the use of set lists and no two shows are ever the same. Off stage, their music has been streamed more than 200 million times, and placed in a variety of TV and films, including “Dead To Me,” “Alaska Daily,” “Black-ish” and more. They are currently touring North America in support of their new deluxe album, ‘Soft Spot’.

Love You Anyway, the new album from Devon Gilfillian, is an intoxicating, genre-blasting game changer spanning soul, hip-hop, R&B, and rock, all under the banner of Black joy. With an incisive eye and unassuming swagger, Gilfillian re-imagines modern soul music by redefining its possibilities. Produced by Jeremy Lutito (Joy Oladokun, NEEDTOBREATHE), Love You Anyway (available April 7th, 2023, via Fantasy Records) confronts as well as comforts. Chronicling Gilfillian’s journey as a Black artist living in the tumult of 21st century America, it’s as much about fighting for what you believe in: equity and representation, as it is about love. A captivating can’t-miss live performer, the Philadelphia-born, Nashville based singer-songwriter regularly commands club, theater, and festival stages around the world. Now, on Love You Anyway, Gilfillian conjures the raw, sexy emotions of his predecessors and the next-level grooves of his contemporaries, taking soul music into an exciting and restorative new future.

Seal Party

Chris McGrew & Kevin Seal began this experiment in San Francisco, in the surreal orange daylight of 2020. They found themselves with occasional access to a legendary studio: Wally’s HydeOut in Hyde Street Studios. Their friends were hungry for opportunities to play music. And they had been writing a large batch of new songs that drew on soul harmonies, baritone melodies, and rock syncopation.

With help from multi-instrumentalist Liam Wesley Craddock, they treated each opportunity to record as a chance to throw a party. Each song was a different lineup, depending on which friends could make it. Heavy-hitter jazz players from Chicago and New York joined in too — Chris Rob, Keyon Harrold, Isaiah Sharkey, Kenneth Whalum.

The full 16-track album arrived in late 2022. MMXXII is a true labor of love. In May and June of 2023, McGrew, Seal, & Craddock will bring this party across the central USA, joined by Spence Murray on bass and Mikey Kmiecik on guitar.

Dee Oh Gee

DeeOhGee is the new chapter in the story of a band of brothers who’ve now been through it! Emerging on a fresh platform to share their unique blend of great American music.

Formerly touring under the name “Blackfoot Gypsies”, they have dropped the old name but kept the same spirit. A spirit arising from a life dedicated to Rock-n-Roll. The group established a loyal fanbase across the US and Europe, while releasing a catalogue of music documenting their journey. After going through inevitable changes over the course of hundreds of shows and thousands of miles – it only felt right right to start a new book, with a sharper sense of who they are and what they’re doing.

DeeOhGee is now comprised of Matthew Paige, Zack Murphy, and Dylan Whitlow. Each member contributes songs and brings different musical expertise to the table. These 3 musicians cover a huge spectrum of instruments – everything from timpani to pianos and banjos to harmoniums. Every single note and voice you hear on their recordings, is them. No studio musicians. They are beyond dedicated to their craft and eagerly work toward giving the world their life’s work. Collecting vibrations from every walk of life in this world and turning them into a hummable tune, with a wink of humor. Now, after all these years of honing their craft, the music is a concentrated serum exported from their souls, for all to share and enjoy. DeeOhGee is a band of people, made of people, for the people.

King Pari

King Pari is an almost accidental project. Cameron Kinghorn and DJ Stepmom (Joe Christensen) didn’t even set out to start a band. When Joe texted Cameron some jams whipped up on his tape machine, Cameron hit him back with, “What is this? I want in.” Ten minutes before they first met up, Joe built the loop for their first single, ‘Sunshine,’ which they then wrote on the spot in a flurry of collective inspiration. Now the duo’s collection of work has grown, amassing millions of streams, radio play, shows across the US, and a fan base growing rapidly.

King Pari is much more than this serendipitous start though. The project is the culmination of Joe and Cameron’s years of hard work in the Minneapolis scene. Their musical talents afforded them opportunities few have experienced, from being invited to play shows at Prince’s Paisley Park by Prince himself to performing with Prince’s band New Power Generation. The two draw inspiration from the “no limits” nature of the Minneapolis sound, pushing it forward as they see it today.

All of these moments culminate in King Pari and lay the groundwork for one of the most exciting new projects in music right now. With their debut project, “Mary”, out everywhere and official remixes on the way from the likes of Peanut Butter Wolf, Moonchild, and Ginger Root it is clear that the future for King Pari is extremely bright and only getting brighter.

Horace Greene

Wisconsin band Horace Greene crafts danceable indie rock, teasing elements of synth-pop and psychedelia. The band formed in “Water City” Oshkosh, which has become the central location for the group’s busy tour schedule. Their latest release “The Diamond Engine,” is a 12 song album that showcases their vibrant mix of influences and further pushes the boundaries on their soul-stirring, ’60s-twinged style.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he grew up absorbing a diverse spread of music and art — The Drums, Funeral Suits, Common and Teen Suicide are credited as some of his greatest influences. His catalog is intimate, thoughtful, and self-labeled ‘new wave nostalgia,’ his songs soaked in both the warmths and the darknesses of life and love.

He’s performed alongside Injury Reserve, Jack Harlow, Omar Apollo, Trapo, Yung Gravy and Alex Wiley, and toured with Yoshi Flower in February 2019. “Lost Cause” is Kenny’s breakout single, which has been listed on Spotify’s “Fresh Finds,” “Alternative R&B”and “Anti-Pop” playlists, has now reached over 1 million streams on Spotify.

For better or worse, Andy Frasco has been married to the music industry since before he could grow facial hair. At just sixteen, Frasco worked for labels like Drive-Thru Records and Capitol, booking nationwide tours for his pop-punk heroes and wheeling and dealing on calls he’d take on the sly during lunch. He’s been on road since he was 19 with his band Andy Frasco & the U.N., played over 250 shows per year for more than decade, lived on bad bar food, and slept in vans, and now, after more than a decade on the musical grind, he’s finally finding himself.

The culmination of those efforts is Wash, Rinse, Repeat, which drops April 8th via his own label, Fun Machine Records. “This was my chance to learn my craft and fall in love with songwriting again,” he says. “This is me. This is how I feel. I’m not trying to write songs for other people anymore. I’m just trying to write songs that help me. And hopefully through that, help others, too.”

Written across the country with members of Dashboard Confessional, 3oh!3, Doom Flamingo, AWOLnation, and more, the record is a portrait of Frasco as a musician — and a man. Dealing with everything from addiction (“Spill the Beans”) to breaking old romantic habits (“Grow Old”) to fighting through the bad days to find the good (“Puff Break (Believe That)”), Wash, Rinse, Repeat stands as Frasco’s most complete, mature effort yet. With Bonnaroo and touring on the horizon, Frasco is ready for people to stop thinking of him as a party-boy frontman with a yen for stage-diving and to listen to his words.
