MEET LYNY

21-year-old LYNY, aka Alec Leinhauser’s growth as an artist has been inescapable and he’s only just begun leaving his mark on the scene. He is pushing the boundaries of electronic music by discovering and combining new cutting-edge sounds with melodic compositions. His approach to bass music is heavily influenced by Hip-Hop and trap beats with a splash of R&B. He strives to balance his songs with heart wrenching basslines, arpeggiated melodies, hard hitting drums, and often throws in recognizable vocal chops. LYNY’s skills as a producer and engineer have landed him placements with Tobi Lou, Lox Chatterbox, and SVRITE.

Some of LYNY’s stand out tunes include Jump Bros! which is a flip of Destiny Child’s ‘Jumpin’ mixed with the ‘Super Smash Bros. Brawl’ theme melody, And Freak! which uses Missy Elliots vocals from ‘Get Ur Freak On’. His versatility has allowed him to touch many genres progressing his sound to a very unique place. This year, LYNY released his heavy hitting EP ‘Dash’ as well as collaborations with Bailo, L*o*J, and Dabow. The success of these releases has earned him major support from industry heavyweights, Marshmello, Louis The Child, and PEEKABOO as well as labels such as Majestic Casual and Lucid Monday.

LYNY is set to play shows all over the states with Boombox Cartel.

“Music has always been a big part of my life. I’ve been producing and writing music for as long as I can remember and it has become an essential form of self expression. I started the LYNY project in 2016 with a vision and goals in mind as I wanted to start fresh on a project with direction. It’s been a non-stop grind of learning the art of production, focusing on creating my own sound, and making tracks that are unusually unique while stressing on keeping them high-quality and clean. There is nothing I would rather be doing and I am super thankful for my journey thus far” – LYNY

King Pari

King Pari is an almost accidental project. Cameron Kinghorn and DJ Stepmom (Joe Christensen) didn’t even set out to start a band. When Joe texted Cameron some jams whipped up on his tape machine, Cameron hit him back with, “What is this? I want in.” Ten minutes before they first met up, Joe built the loop for their first single, ‘Sunshine,’ which they then wrote on the spot in a flurry of collective inspiration. Now the duo’s collection of work has grown, amassing millions of streams, radio play, shows across the US, and a fan base growing rapidly.

King Pari is much more than this serendipitous start though. The project is the culmination of Joe and Cameron’s years of hard work in the Minneapolis scene. Their musical talents afforded them opportunities few have experienced, from being invited to play shows at Prince’s Paisley Park by Prince himself to performing with Prince’s band New Power Generation. The two draw inspiration from the “no limits” nature of the Minneapolis sound, pushing it forward as they see it today.

All of these moments culminate in King Pari and lay the groundwork for one of the most exciting new projects in music right now. With their debut project, “Mary”, out everywhere and official remixes on the way from the likes of Peanut Butter Wolf, Moonchild, and Ginger Root it is clear that the future for King Pari is extremely bright and only getting brighter.

Horace Greene

Wisconsin band Horace Greene crafts danceable indie rock, teasing elements of synth-pop and psychedelia. The band formed in “Water City” Oshkosh, which has become the central location for the group’s busy tour schedule. Their latest release “The Diamond Engine,” is a 12 song album that showcases their vibrant mix of influences and further pushes the boundaries on their soul-stirring, ’60s-twinged style.

The Halluci Nation is real.

As they enter a new cycle, Bear Witness and Tim “2oolman” Hill of A Tribe Called Red are reintroducing themselves as The Halluci Nation, to reflect the evolution of their music and mission. The Halluci Nation, takes its name from a phrase coined by John Trudell, to describe the vast global community of people who remember at their core what it means to be human. As a visionary
artist and activist, Trudell recognized the connection between his accomplishments and what ATCR did intuitively through music and art.

Trudell’s voice was the first heard on Tribe’s last record, We Are The Halluci Nation, and will, fittingly, be the first you hear on The Halluci Nation’s upcoming record, One More Saturday Night. The album is a love letter to the Electric Pow Wow gatherings launched at Ottawa’s Babylon nightclub in 2007. It represents an imagined denouement to the biweekly Saturday-night parties that ended abruptly in 2017, without ever getting the proper send-off. One More Saturday Night thus pays homage to the parties’ energy and momentum that elevated The Halluci Nation to this pivotal point in their career of fully mastering their own music style while also moving beyond club music; or “mixing dance music with dance music,” as Bear Witness succinctly puts it.

“We wanted to pay homage to the Electric Pow Wow and wrap that whole decade of experience up and close the cycle, and in doing so give direct coordinates of where the future was headed. In a nutshell, that’s what this album is about,” says Bear. “We just wanted to make a party record, as well, one that people could dance to while still having the strong message we are known for.”

As was the case with its proud legacy, The Halluci Nation’s future revolves around collaboration. From hip-hop star, Yasiin Bey (AKA Mos Def), to the Indigenous Australian band, OKA, to the Wayuu-Colombian powerhouse, Lido Pimienta, the group has always sought out artists from around the world who would join the Halluci Nation family to form a like minded community as well as an international indigenous alliance. The upcoming record will be no exception–with features as inspired and unpredictable as the music from Texas “electro-cumbia” producer, El Dusty, Anishnaabeg drum group, Chippewa Travellers, Maori artist, Rob Ruha, Inuk singer, Tanya Tagaq, and round-dance/R&B singer Antoine, among many others.

“We wanted to take the music to another place,” says 2oolman. “We showed a little bit of our ambitious side on this record and we got to do a lot of songs that we’d been wanting to do for a long time. And this is just the beginning. I wouldn’t be surprised if you heard The Halluci Nation produce a project for someone else. We’ve got so much more coming.”

This is a beginning, not an end, after all. The Halluci Nation maintains focus on what they feel they can impact most: how Indigenous people are seen. Through groundbreaking stage shows and ever-changing visuals, Bear Witness and 2oolman are working to create media that reflects today’s Indigenous identity. By partnering with striking visual artists such as Whess Harman, Saige Mukash and Cedar-Eve Peters along with a growing community of musical collaborators. They see themselves simply as contributors to a necessary conversation around a subtle and complex representation of the contemporary Indigenous experience.
