With its elegant blurring of psychedelia\, dream-pop and electronic-leaning indie-rock\, the Texas-bred singer-songwriter’s ninth solo effort emerged from a charmed collaboration with his Hudson Valley neighbor Sam Cohen\, the sought-after producer known for his work with innovators such as Kevin Morby and Danger Mouse. And while the album often wanders into decidedly cosmic terrain\, Miller grounds each track with the vulnerable songwriting and unaffected vocal presence he’s brought to his role as frontman for legendary alt-country band Old 97’s for the last three decades. The result is a body of work fully attuned to the tension of modern times\, yet imbued with all the lovely delirium of a dreamscape. \nProduced by Cohen at his own Slow Fawn Studios (a former horse farm in the hamlet of Accord)\, The Misfit is deeply rooted in a shared intention to “make a record that lives in a world with no rules\,” according to Miller. “As we were working we kept returning to the relationship between David Bowie and Brian Eno and the records they made together\, and how fearless they were in their approach to finding the songs\,” he adds. In shaping The Misfit’s elaborately detailed sound\, Cohen handled all the instrumentation\, playing guitar\, bass\, drums\, and keys in addition to sculpting the album’s mercurial rhythms and textures with lavish use of synth and drum machines. Featuring the background vocals of Cassandra Jenkins and Annie Nero on several tracks\, the outcome is an unexpected yet undeniably potent setting for Miller’s lyrical storytelling. “One of the things I love about working with Sam is that his instincts are very much complementary to mine\,” says Miller. “He has this ability to create music that’s open and eerie and beautiful\, and at the same time allows for a propulsiveness that makes it feel so vibrant and vital.” \nArriving almost exactly 20 years after The Instigator (his Jon Brion-produced solo major-label debut)\, The Misfit takes its title from a gloriously spacey but self-scrutinizing track called “Just When It Gets Good.” “It was the first song I wrote in the pandemic\, at a time when I didn’t know where I fit anymore\,” he says. “There are always so many voices in our head trying to keep us from making art\, and I was definitely falling prey to their ill effects.” Noting that “feeling like a misfit is the artistic condition\,” Miller ultimately found his sense of purpose wholly restored by the making of The Misfit. “I’ve toyed with some other disciplines\, like writing short-form fiction\, long form fiction\, essays and children’s books\,” says Miller\, whose latest kids’ book The Baby Changing Station is due out this fall from Little Brown Young Readers. “They all fulfill something in me\, but nothing compares to songwriting. The idea that you can sit down and create a whole universe and then put it out into the world—the joy I get from that quick-hit creation will always be unmatched for me.” URL:https://www.high-noon.com/event/rhett-miller/ LOCATION:High Noon Saloon\, 701 East Washington Avenue\, Madison\, 53703 ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/png:https://www.high-noon.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/Web-7.png END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/Chicago:20230127T200000 DTEND;TZID=America/Chicago:20230127T233000 DTSTAMP:20240329T051652 CREATED:20221108T160049Z LAST-MODIFIED:20230127T230638Z UID:7985-1674849600-1674862200@www.high-noon.com SUMMARY:Church of Cash DESCRIPTION:  \n\nCOVID-19 POLICY\nBased on the latest local guidelines\, attendees are no longer required to provide proof of negative COVID-19 test AND/OR vaccination for entry into this event. With a unique blend of jazz\, rock\, Latin\, bluegrass\, classical\, and even metal\, Mungion is known for a sound that often defies classification; it’s simply phenomenal all on its own. \nIfdakar \n2022 marks Ifdakar’s 15th year together. What started as a high school friends jam session has evolved into an undeniable force in the Midwestern original music scene. Known for their high energy live shows and massive catalog of unique and engaging material\, the Appleton based rock group has cemented their legacy as original music trailblazers with a decade and a half’s worth of boundary pushing sonic exploration under their belt. \nAt its core\, Ifdakar is a rock and roll band\, through and through. But it’s their ability to shift stylistic gears in the blink of an eye that keeps fans coming back for more. One moment they’re soaring through an intense peak\, and the next they’re navigating a delicate\, soulful introspection\, or bouncing along to a driving techno beat. All the while\, the spirit of rock and roll hums just below the surface\, awaiting its moment to burst through and take center stage. \nIfdakar’s resume is filled with noteworthy accomplishments and career achievements. To name a few\, their most recent album was produced by Jake Cinninger of Umphrey’s McGee and Willie Waldman from Death Row Records. “Lion’s Share”\, the band’s third studio album\, was recorded at Cinninger’s studio in Southern Michigan\, and Cinninger and Waldman both perform on the album as well. Ifdakar is a regular at the Midwest mega-fest Summer Camp\, returning in 2022 for their 8th straight year. In 2010\, the band started their own promotion and production company called WIJAM\, which has since become synonymous with original music in their home state of Wisconsin and beyond. The band also spearheads their own large multi-genre campout\, the Moon Dance Music Festival. Ifdakar has shared the stage with some of the biggest industry heavyweights including Spafford\, Particle\, EOTO\, Primus\, Wookiefoot\, Conspirator\, The Werks\, Aqueous\, and countless more national\, regional\, and local artists. \nIfdakar is heading into their crystal anniversary year with a renewed hunger to spread their music further and wider than they ever have before. And as the catalog of original music continues to swell\, and the band continues to explore new and exciting soundscapes\, there’s no telling where the music will take them. Their third studio album\, For the Birds\, is ambitious and captures vigorous\, rock ‘n’ roll energy with elements of country and southern rock. From classic to contemporary rock\, these are songs that could appeal to the disparate fanbases of Gary Stewart\, Joe Walsh\, Rival Sons\, or Chris Cornell. \nAmerican Songwriter called For The Birds\, “Exploratory… Traversing through uncharted sonic territory” and Raised Rowdy proclaims\, “There is a ton of excitement building around Read Southall Band at the moment.” Riff Magazine notes\, “Read Southall Band combines the heavy guitars of the late- and post-grunge era with southern rock vocals and a country music sensibility to create a sound outside the expectations of any of those genres by themselves.” \n“I don’t think we would be a band without this album\,” says frontman Southall. “I think for a while we were just focused on touring\, getting out there and we didn’t take care of the music as needed. In a way\, we needed that year off the road. We made an album and just worked. We refocused and decided this is what we want to be doing.” \nSouthall and his bandmates understand that the album’s long gestation and their sonic shifts may take some adjustment for fans. But that excited uncertainty is reflected in the new album’s title. “We came up with For the Birds because it’s been so long and we were worried that nobody’s waiting for us\,” says Southall. “So maybe this record is ‘for the birds.’ If you like it\, you like it. It is what it is. For us\, it’s six individuals making tunes.” URL:https://www.high-noon.com/event/read-southall/ LOCATION:High Noon Saloon\, 701 East Washington Avenue\, Madison\, 53703 ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/png:https://www.high-noon.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/Web-6.png END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/Chicago:20230204T130000 DTEND;TZID=America/Chicago:20230204T140000 DTSTAMP:20240329T051652 CREATED:20221222T152637Z LAST-MODIFIED:20221222T183805Z UID:8115-1675515600-1675519200@www.high-noon.com SUMMARY:Bob Marley Birthday Bash (Kids Show) DESCRIPTION:  \n\nCOVID-19 POLICY\nBased on the latest local guidelines\, attendees are no longer required to provide proof of negative COVID-19 test AND/OR vaccination for entry into this event. Wielding claw-hammer banjo\, Irish bouzouki\, mandolin\, and acoustic guitar the duo sings predominantly original music as well as reworked traditional ballads gathered from their travels.\n“Folk Music with a hefty touch of whimsy” – Bob Boilen (NPR) \nPrairie Smoke is comprised of Corey Mathew Hart\, Kenny Leiser\, and Kevin Rowe. Their live catalogue draws from their studio albums “Five Star Heart Breaker” (2015)\, “Ballads & Burners” (2017)\, and “Work Harder Not Smarter” (2020). The band has been performing\, touring\, and making records since early 2014 playing an average of 150+ shows per year throughout the Midwest region and beyond. The band looks with excitement and ambition to the touring seasons\, coming to a town near you! Collectively the members of the group have thousands of shows under their belt\, giving their songs\, sound\, and performances a musical maturity that echoes their collective years of passion and experience. \nThe group features Phil Hoffman (upright bass)\, Caleb Peters (guitar)\, Sean Shiel (mandolin) and the more recently welcomed addition of Pete Smith (banjo) and Shawn Drake (fiddle) in 2021. Mid 2022 the band and the world tragically lost Shawn Drake. He was a driving force in the band\, an incredible\, passionate and humble human being and he will be sorely missed. May he Rest In Peace. \nSoggy Prairie \nSoggy Prairie has the five-piece instrumentation of a traditional bluegrass band\, but don’t call them traditional. With a mix of bluegrass standards\, modern takes on country and Americana\, and original music\, Soggy Prairie puts on a show that demonstrates the versatility and broad appeal of string music. \nFormed in 2002 in Sun Prairie\, Wisconsin\, the band has developed a confident\, high-energy sound and an enthusiastic following. Starting out as high schoolers too young to go to bluegrass jams in bars\, they came up with their own interpretations of bluegrass classics. Since then\, they’ve become a mainstay of the southern Wisconsin bluegrass scene\, playing close to a hundred shows per year at festivals\, concerts\, fairs and bars. \nOriginally known as the Soggy Prairie Boys\, the band dropped the “boys” from its name with the addition of women on fiddle and banjo in today’s lineup. Kodey Feiner (lead vocals\, guitar) commands the stage with a powerful tenor and wry banter. Jim Kvalheim (mandolin\, backing vocals) is an animated picker who may or may not have a giant beard at any given time. The Bass Player (bass\, backing vocals) provides driving bass and infectious energy. Erin “the Conductor” Barnard (fiddle\, vocals) is distinguished as the only member of the band with classical music training\, educating other members about advanced concepts like “notes” and “being in tune.” Newest member Emily Jones (banjo) plays Scruggs-style banjo and has heard all your jokes. They’re still bringing the noise\, only now with fewer boys. The prolific group’s newest record\, it’s an album with renewed shimmer\, showcasing Rubblebucket’s intricately sparkling beats\, hushed-yet-hooky vocals\, and irresistible melodic complexity—a celebration of togetherness\, environmental curiosity\, and the pleasure in doing what you love. \nKalmia Traver and Alex Toth\, the group’s front persons\, co-writers and co-producers\, first began a friendship as jazz students at the University of Vermont. Soon after\, they formed Rubblebucket\, using the project to delve into pop\, funk\, dance and psychedelia; performances have spanned Bonnaroo to Glastonbury to their self-curated Dream Picnic Festival\, and they’ve collaborated with kindred genre-blenders including Arcade Fire and Scissor Sisters’ Jake Shears. But before their musical relationship\, Traver and Toth initially bonded over another shared passion: the two were part of UVM’s Sustainable Community Development program. \nSustainability is still a part of their lives: Toth communes with nature as part of his morning routine\, and Traver is adept at foraging in the band’s adopted home of New York City. Yet songwriting explicitly about environmentalism in Rubblebucket has felt immaterial—besides\, the band has shared its beliefs over the years by inviting anti-fracking\, reproductive justice\, and other organizations to table at their shows. But Traver was interested in writing love songs for and from the natural world\, and both were inspired by their parents’ work in ecology and community facilitation\, from which they saw a throughline to music’s communal healing. Traver suggested “earth worship” as a lyrical prompt for their sixth record\, and with this concept at its core\, the duo began writing an album titled after that very theme. \nSince their last full length\, 2018’s Sun Machine\, Rubblebucket’s songwriters have recorded extensively with other projects. Traver\, usually a saxophonist\, poured dance sensibilities into Kalbells\, a rhythmic indie quartet in which she plays keyboards. Toth\, who dove into punk catharsis with his band Alexander F\, went interior for Tōth\, a solo project inspired by Arthur Russell’s serendipitous sparseness. “By doing multiple records on our own and together\, you just get better and better at understanding the process\,” says Toth. That process includes “song-a-day” workshops\, an ecstatic endeavor the band likens to “spiritual upheaval.” Across two week-long sessions in May and November of 2020\, the pair wrote 28 new songs\, later trading production duties on each others’ compositions. ‘Toth introduced a new musical direction for Earth Worship: disco. He felt restored by a series of Italo disco and ‘80s Detroit parties thrown by activists he’d met at summer protests\, simultaneously drawing huge influence from Resmaa Menakem’s book My Grandmother’s Hands. On a parallel plane\, Traver was awestruck by NYC DJs Rose Kourtz and Miss Alicia and revisited the whispered delivery of Blondie’s Debbie Harry. She also brought a fomented sense of creative confidence after seeing an exhibition of abstract painter Hilma af Klint. \nRubblebucket recorded a significant portion of Earth Worship at their homes\, tracking Juno 60\, Yamaha DX7\, flugelhorn\, trumpet and saxophones—all atop an electric bass and percussion-heavy production template Toth devised to evoke his vision of disco. In March 2021\, the group moved to the Catskills’ Spillway Sound alongside their live band: bassist Ryan Dugre\, trumpeter and keyboardist Sean Smith\, and drummer Jeremy Gustin\, who incorporated chopsticks into his playing to produce otherworldly beats. They reunited with beloved engineer Eli Crews (Tune-Yards\, Deerhoof)\, whose keen taste for Russian drum machines and unusual microphones brought multidimensionality to overdubs like timpani and cassette-processed horns. After eight days of studio bliss\, it felt difficult to return to reality. “We had so much fun and it was super inspiring\, but it was Alex and I back in a pressure cooker\,” says Traver. The duo realized they had to unlearn old patterns in their working relationship\, and over the next 10 months\, they developed a new language for mediation and repairing creative boundaries—which helped them round Earth Worship’s final corner. Mix engineer Claudius Mittendorfer (Parquet Courts\, Weezer) brought striking finishing touches to the record\, much to the band’s delight. “It’s a cool way to let go\,” says Toth. “The music’s not done when Kal and I are done.” \nLevity is unmistakable on opening track and lead single “Earth Worship\,” on which Traver embodies the timeless lust of our planet’s entanglement with humanity over outer space synths and thundering toms. On “Geometry\,” Rubblebucket uses no wave guitars and bursts of saxophones to deliver an impressionistic narrative about being trapped in a painting; “Let’s make geometry\,” goes the sunny chorus—a cherished sentiment about the resilience of the collaborators’ friendship. “Cherry Blossom\,” an addictively catchy blend of warbling keys\, soft horns\, and sugared piano\, sees Rubblebucket’s singers in octave-stretched unison—one of their most unique vocal collaborations yet\, as they attempted to copy each others’ inflections across over fifty takes. “You look exactly like a cherry blossom / life is full of paradoxes\,” goes one triumphant verse by Toth; “It melds the object and the subject in a way that takes my breath away\,” says Traver. \n“Back in the day\, Rubblebucket was so confusing for me\,” explains Toth. “We’re interested in so many things musically. But to have no set bumpers is torturous.” Both artists agree that their extra-Rubblebucket outlets have allowed them to explore their tastes in a way that leaves them rejuvenated\, better prepared for the singular beauty of their collaboration with one another. “The process\, to me\, is what the album is about. The songs are just an artifact\,” Traver effuses. Earth Worship uses vibrant sound and glorious harmony to worship our planet and the people who live on it—in Rubblebucket’s world\, those two concepts aren’t so different. \nSpaceface \nSpaceface (led by Jake Ingalls formerly of the flaming lips) is a self-described “Retro Futurist Dream Rock”. Over the course of eight years\, the collective has toured all over the United States\, as well as Canada\, with stops at international festivals such as SXSW\, Desert Daze\, Canadian Music Week\, Treefort Music Fest\, Hangout Music Festival\, God Save The Queen City and Distorsion Psych Fest. Always equipped with a state of the art light-show and/or projectors\, sometimes accompanied by weirdish stage props and/or gadgets\, the ever-evolving American act provides their dedicated following with thrill-inducing D.I.Y. performances that only get crazier as they perfect their experimental craft. \nTheir latest musical broadcast\, Sophomore LP “Anemoia”\, is the result of Jake and friends spending several months at Blackwatch Studios in 2019\, working with Jarod to write and produce new material. The objective remained the same: to offer an innovative interpretation of psychedelic rock\, blending transparent ’70s references with striking modern indie and pop-rock elements. it is a slew of beautiful musical oddities ranging from dancy indie ballads to modern disco anthems. Her practice as a DJ and producer has developed throughout the years to uniquely encompass her passion for music – not only as an apparatus for dance\, but one of self discovery\, community building\, & unrestricted knowledge. Drawing influence from the kinetic freedom of 90s midwest techno\, the unifying velocity of dancing\, & the frenetic pace of life\, Akua has signature style of supersonic rhythm shifters\, every mix of hers courses with timelessness & the most empowering qualities of rave\n– time dilation\, expanded perspective within the mantra-like repetition of electronic rhythms\, & the continuum of black futurity at dance music’s core. \nAll this plays out in Akua’s blazing sets heard around the world\, from a residency on London’s beloved Rinse FM station\, playing forward thinking European festivals including Dekmantel\, Draaimolen\, and Horst along with a bombastic closing slot at Berghain for Berlin’s CTM Festival\, to all across North America at hot spots like NYC’s BASEMENT and Nowadays\, Pittsburgh’s Hot Mass\, & the annual Sustain-Release festival. Further praise for her work has come from publications Crack Magazine\, Pitchfork\, & Resident Advisor. Original productions of hers have appeared on compilations via platforms including Electronic Beats & HAUS OF ALTR\, further giving form to the inner velocity & metaphysical momentum Akua seeks to cultivate. \nThrough her journey in life & music\, Akua aims to help others find understanding within themselves by harnessing their personal power & channeling it into the power of dance. Her message through techno represents a deep dedication to research and bringing forth narratives about the genre’s history. Her work honors the original\, authentic\, and rebellious old school values of techno – the sort that luminaries like Underground Resistance defined so early on – while also breaking modern expectations with a fresh sense of attitude. Her recontextualization of techno centers it’s long lineage for contemporary audience\, transmuting the boundless genesis of rave onwards towards buoyant possibilities for the future. since helped redefine the techno sounds emerging from NYC through the multitude of her evocative\, mind bending sets & exuberant mixing techniques. Akua’s tireless dedication to more freakish strains of techno & finesse encapsulates the sublime\, chaotic potential of the present\, while harkening back to the innovative methods & experimentation of DJs throughout history. \nJuana \nJuana is a DJ and producer hailing originally from the city of Chicago. She started out like most\, as a random kid on the dance floor every week at places like The Generator and Boom Boom Room\, and has been DJing house\, techno\, and disco parties since roughly 2001. Juana moved to DC in 2003 and began hosting weekly live internet radio shows on HandzOnRadio (Baltimore) and Cyberjamz (Tampa) and playing parties in the DC deep house scene\, upping her skills alongside legendary DJs like Sam “the Man” Burns\,” and at clubs including Red and the DC Sanctuary. Juana started obsessively collecting disco and early house records in the late 90s and eventually developed an undying penchant for straight-ahead techno and darker shades of Chicago underground acid and deep house of the 80s and 90s. \nOver the past several years\, Juana has made her mark in DC as primarily a techno DJ\, becoming a weekend fixture at local venues like Flash and U Street Music Hall and as a member of the founding squad of the Sequence collective\, led by Ron Jackson. Sequence was the first underground party committed to consistently showcasing local and global techno DJs and crafting a dark\, dangerous\, sometimes hellishly uncomfortable party vibe hitherto unavailable in the DC area. \nJuana has enticed crowds all over the world at venues such as Berghain’s Saule\, Flash\, WAS\, De School\, and numerous underground warehouses. Over the past several years\, Juana has played alongside DJs such as\, DVS1\, Perc\, Headless Horseman\, I Hate Models\, and DJ Stingray. Juana joined the Discwoman roster in 2017 and is a founding member of the DC QT BIPOC collective NOXEEMA JACKSON. As a producer\, her first release “Discipline Issues” was released as part of a compilation on Katie Rex’s Bound label\, and her first independent EP “Floating” landed in 2020. Her most recent EP “Peaks” was released in July 2021\, and she also appeared on the TRAX ONLY Soft Touch compilation in spring of 2021 and the Neighborhoods Vol. 1 compilation on World Building in fall of 2021. \nSassmouth \nOne of the fascinating creatures that our Planet houses is the ever-elusive Sassmouth. Fortunately\, the Planet Chicago recording crew caught some sounds from her natural habitat\, and we just finished listening to the entire Sassmouth ‘Collected Mixes’ and ‘Selected Productions.’ The music explores all aspects of our Planet. Mind the abundant basslines\, dazzling melodies\, and unparalleled orchestral score. I was absolutely gobsmacked from start to finish indeed! \nAs of her ‘god particle’ label launch in early 2013\, and ‘Planet Chicago’ club night launch at the legendary ‘Smartbar’ in early 2014 where she continues her Chicago residency\, one can say that she is quite simply the inimitable nature/wildlife/DJ/producer. Following the similarly paramount achievement of being enlisted as a resident for the San Francisco based ‘As You Like It’ production group in early 2013\, this colossal cephalopod continued to so sensibly organize each and every impromptu mix whilst covering specific genre regions and/or habitats (deep oceans\, techno\, Great Lakes\, house\, shallow seas\, electro\, urban rivers\, experimental\, etc.) until the entire Planet was magnificently represented by the most astonishing sounds you’ve ever experienced from the comforts of home\, club\, or NBFC underground party. His blistering fast songs meet somewhere in the middle of hardcore\, garage and noise\, and are chock full of hooks and heavy riffs. \nBandcamp \nCaryatids \nThe roots of Caryatids date back to 2018\, when Coordinated Suicides singer/guitarist M. Martin wanted to start a vehicle for a different vein of his songwriting. They released their debut\, “The End of the Sun” on Kitschy Spirit Records in September 2022. Growing up\, annotation was a way of understanding and processing the culture that surrounded her\, a means of collecting words and stories that would become foundational to the songs she would write. Conversely\, songwriting became a way of marking up the experiences in her own life\, a process she’d often document and share in real-time with an ever-expanding online community. \nHaving amassed a legion of fans and followers ahead of her freshman year at Tufts University\, Ella entered one of the most exciting periods of her life confined to her dorm room as a result of the ongoing COVID pandemic. With an excess of time at her disposal\, she spent much of the year fine-tuning a batch of songs that she had brought with her from high school\, which would eventually become her debut project\, THIS IS NOT WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE. \nThe EP arrived the following summer via FADER Label\, catching the ears of fans such as Elton John\, who praised follow-up single “Calling Card\,” saying “if there’s any justice in the world\, it will be a big hit for Ella Jane… I really love it.” Sold-out shows in New York and Los Angeles soon followed\, as did a cross-country tour with Peter McPoland and an appearance on Netflix’s Heartstopper soundtrack. \nSpurred by the momentum\, she dropped out of college and moved to Brooklyn to give the music all of her time. The songs she wrote during this period radiate with the coming-of-age urgency of that moment\, and all the identity-affirming head rushes that came with it. Teaming up with producer Mike Irish\, they aimed to keep the pop sensibilities of her earlier work as well as steer them toward a grittier place more akin to the sound of her alt-rock heroes. They landed at Marginalia; a concise offering of her most propulsive and assertive material to date that establishes Ella Jane as a formidable storyteller all while nodding to the process that got her there. Through their new EP What I Get For Loving You\, Seaforth’s Tom Jordan and Mitch Thompson – childhood friends who take their name from the Sydney suburb where they grew up – want to expand popular perception to include\narticulate\, authentic songwriting that does a deeper dive into the human experience. \n“It’s easy to just look at us like\, ‘Oh\, you guys are funny\,’” said Tom – who produced the project entirely from the pair’s home studio. “Yeah\, 100 percent. But at the end of the day\, we are musicians. We are producing the songs\, and we are writing the songs\, and we have real stories to tell.” \nThe growth was hard-won for the pair who thought they were on the fast track to their dreams at the end of 2019. Seaforth had just finished opening shows in Sydney for their musical hero Keith Urban\, was playing to full houses in Europe at Country 2 Country Festival\, booked their first sold-out headlining show in Australia and felt like the world was at their feet. Then\, the harsh reality of the pandemic isolated them from their careers\, their friends\, and held them captive a world away from their families in Australia. \n“It was insane\,” Tom said. “We were like\, ‘What do we do?’ And we just sat around and tried new things because we couldn’t do what we were used to doing.” \nThey learned to cook. Mitch became an avid gardener\, putting down his guitar for six months. Tom rededicated himself to growing his musical production skills\, creating beats and melodies for no one in particular. Lacking inspiration\, they didn’t write a song until the end of 2020. \nThey say fans on Instagram were a catalyst for snapping them out of their creative funk. A challenge circulating on the platform prompted artists to play an unreleased song. The duo’s\nfriends in Avenue Beat tagged them. Tom and Mitch posted a snip of the heart-wrenching “Breakups\,” a song they’d been toying with\, and watched thousands of people respond immediately. \n“We’re like\, ‘Let’s just tease\,'” Tom said\, explaining the feedback reinvigorated their confidence. “Let’s try and make music because that’s all we have.” \n“It was the only thing we could control\,” Mitch adds. \n“Breakups\,” a wounded\, vulnerable\, and utterly relatable relationship ballad\, made Seaforth reexamine their songwriting craft and question the direction they wanted to take their new music. “Breakups\,” included on What I Get For Loving You\, is Tom’s personal story and the most profound song the duo has released. With 40 million on-demand streams to date\, the track is also their most successful. \n“What we realized is we’re always like\, ‘Oh\, this is a quote-unquote banger\,'” Tom says. “Then you put out a song with such depth that came from literally the hardest emotional thing I’ve ever had to go through\, and it’s done the best out of any song we’ve put out. We’ve spoken a lot about this recently that we have to show that side of us\, too.” \nMost of the songs on the EP were crafted in their Nashville home during lockdown. Tom harnessed his newly refined production skills\, and the duo recorded the collection in a small room at home. They outsourced the players\, trusted each other’s opinions and couldn’t be happier with the outcome. \nThey see the EP’s title track as the next chapter of “Breakups.” The title tells a tale\, and they describe the collection as a love story of different emotions. They co-wrote “What I Get For Loving You” with Rocky Block\, and the friends say the song’s lyrics are their best songwriting to date. The ballad also represents their music careers. \n“‘What I Get For Loving You’ in general and writing\, it’s like\, ‘This is what we’re doing. We chose this path\,’” Mitch says. “Everything that comes along with it\, the ups and downs\, that’s what we get for loving what we do. If you take a step back\, it captures everything and just our journey in general.” \nOther standout tracks on the EP include ” Queen of Daytona Beach (with Sean Kingston)\,” a breezy banger they also co-wrote with Block\, featuring a sample from Kingston’s multi-Platinum smash. At the time\, they penned the song at home during lockdown as a wish for where they would like to be. \n“We ended up starting this relationship with Rocky then ended up becoming best mates with this dude because I think we needed each other\,” Tom says. “He was going through his own situation professionally and personally as well.” \nThe production varies from down-home contemporary country on “Good Beer\,” their duet with Jordan Davis\, to wildly progressive in “Dr. Phil.” They attribute the swing to their Australian upbringing. \n“Being an international person in Nashville\, you obviously have international influences\,” Tom says. “We were raised on very different music than someone from the middle of Georgia\, but it all ties into country music for us\, and that’s why we’re here. Our goal was always to be an authentic version of ourselves because that’s what country music is about. It’s about authentic stories and about relating to people. I feel like producing and writing everything is as authentic as it can possibly get.” \nWhile 2020 didn’t work out as planned for them\, they emerged with a group of songs sure to turn heads – and volume knobs. Seaforth is plunging into this EP release with an impressive 340 million global on-+demand streams and a Gold-certified single for their Mitchell Tenpenny duet “Anything She Says.” \nTom Jordan and Mitch Thompson left Australia to come to Nashville and play their brand of country music. In that way\, the fast track led to their dreams with a few unexpected bumps along the way. “We do have real stories to tell\,” Tom says. “We want to make sure people know that.” URL:https://www.high-noon.com/event/seaforth/ LOCATION:High Noon Saloon\, 701 East Washington Avenue\, Madison\, 53703 ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://www.high-noon.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Seaforth-HNS-Web.jpg END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/Chicago:20230225T210000 DTEND;TZID=America/Chicago:20230225T233000 DTSTAMP:20240329T051652 CREATED:20230124T230006Z LAST-MODIFIED:20230125T162204Z UID:8189-1677358800-1677367800@www.high-noon.com SUMMARY:LYNY DESCRIPTION:  \n\nCOVID-19 POLICY\nBased on the latest local guidelines\, attendees are no longer required to provide proof of negative COVID-19 test AND/OR vaccination for entry into this event. He is pushing the boundaries of electronic music by discovering and combining new cutting-edge sounds with melodic compositions. His approach to bass music is heavily influenced by Hip-Hop and trap beats with a splash of R&B. He strives to balance his songs with heart wrenching basslines\, arpeggiated melodies\, hard hitting drums\, and often throws in recognizable vocal chops. LYNY’s skills as a producer and engineer have landed him placements with Tobi Lou\, Lox Chatterbox\, and SVRITE. \nSome of LYNY’s stand out tunes include Jump Bros! which is a flip of Destiny Child’s ‘Jumpin’ mixed with the ‘Super Smash Bros. Brawl’ theme melody\, And Freak! which uses Missy Elliots vocals from ‘Get Ur Freak On’. His versatility has allowed him to touch many genres progressing his sound to a very unique place. This year\, LYNY released his heavy hitting EP ‘Dash’ as well as collaborations with Bailo\, L*o*J\, and Dabow. The success of these releases has earned him major support from industry heavyweights\, Marshmello\, Louis The Child\, and PEEKABOO as well as labels such as Majestic Casual and Lucid Monday. \nLYNY is set to play shows all over the states with Boombox Cartel. \n“Music has always been a big part of my life. I’ve been producing and writing music for as long as I can remember and it has become an essential form of self expression. I started the LYNY project in 2016 with a vision and goals in mind as I wanted to start fresh on a project with direction. It’s been a non-stop grind of learning the art of production\, focusing on creating my own sound\, and making tracks that are unusually unique while stressing on keeping them high-quality and clean. Performing songs created by the most iconic musicians in rock history\, The Rock and Roll Playhouse band offers its core audience of families with children age ten and under games\, movement\, stories and an opportunity to rock out in an effort to educate children and explore their creativity. The Rock and Roll Playhouse is an early and often first introduction to a child’s lifelong journey with live music and rock and roll. See you at the show! \nThis concert for kids and families shares the music of the artist named above with a new generation of music lovers\, but is not associated with or endorsed by the artist. All children must be accompanied by a parent or adult caregiver. \nThe Rock and Roll Playhouse knows that little ears are sensitive\, so we turn down the volume at our shows. However\, all kids experience music differently and you may find that your child is more comfortable wearing hearing protection earmuffs\, such as Baby Banz\, which are available for purchase here.
