The 8-piece group\, complete with horn section\, represents some of Madison’s best known musical talent\, including members from VO5\, Swamp Thing\, Lynda & The Zeros\, The Periodicals\, and The Ramble. The group prides itself on faithfully recreating the Stones tracks\, which has put them on stages at AtwoodFest\, Waterfront Fest\, etc. Simply stated\, regardless of your knowledge of the Stones…this band will blow you away. \nIn 1972\, the Rolling Stones released the 18-song\, double-album\, Exile On Main St. That makes 2022 the 50th anniversary of the album. Exile contains frequently performed concert staples and was a number one charting album in six countries. It spawned hit songs like “Happy\,” the country music ballad “Sweet Virginia\,” and worldwide top-ten hit “Tumbling Dice.” The album is viewed by many critics as the Rolling Stones’ best work. In 2020\, Rolling Stone magazine listed the album at #14 on its list of the 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time (the highest ranked Stones album). In 2012\, the album was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. \nIn celebration of the 50th anniversary of Exile On Main St\, Loving Cup will play the album in its entirety\, front to back\, followed by a set of hits and hidden gems. Beyond being a favorite spot for fly fishermen\, it remains etched into the topography of the land itself.  Two hours away in Bozeman\, Kitchen Dwellers equally embody the spirit and soul of their home with a sonic palette as expansive as Montana’s vistas. The quartet—Shawn Swain [Mandolin]\, Torrin Daniels [banjo]\, Joe Funk [upright bass]\, and Max Davies [acoustic guitar]—twist bluegrass\, folk\, and rock through a kaleidoscope of homegrown stories\, rich mythology\, American west wanderlust\, and psychedelic hues. After amassing 5 million-plus streams\, selling out shows\, and receiving acclaim from Huffington Post\, Relix\, American Songwriter\, and more\, the group brings audiences back to Big Sky Country on their third full-length album\, Wise River\, working with Cory Wong of Vulfpeck as producer. \n“Since we weren’t on the road due to COVID-19\, the music we wrote was different\,” Max reveals. “It was more introspective. There were a lot of ties to Montana.” \n“For the first time\, we were all home for 365 days in a row\, which hasn’t happened in ten years\,” adds Shawn. “We were thinking of the quieter lifestyle encapsulated in the area. That comes through.” \n“In the past\, our songs would touch on the physical aspects of the state or reference its history and nature\,” says Torrin. “These songs are more introspective\, because they come from the perspective of actually being in one place. The vibe is a little more serious—given the weirdness of the past year and the shit everyone has been dealing with. Our little corner of the world has always delt with hard winters\, but the whole world felt it in 2020.” \nAt the same time\, their music continues to resound beyond that little corner. They’ve captivated audiences at hallowed venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheatre and performed alongside everyone from Railroad Earth and Twiddle to The Infamous String Dusters in addition to playing festivals such as Northwest String Summit\, WinterWonderGrass\, and more. They’ve released two critically acclaimed albums—Ghost In The Bottle [2017] and Muir Maid [2019]—and a live record\, Live from the Wilma [2021]. They broke up 2020 with an EP of Pink Floyd covers entitled Reheated\, Vol. 2. It was heralded by a two-night livestream concert\, Live From The Cabin\, beamed out to audiences from the Bridger Mountains. Additionally\, they appeared at the Live From Out There virtual festival and even took over a drive-in movie theater for an in-person gig in between regular writing sessions together throughout the year. \nIn order to bring the new tunes to life\, they recruited Cory behind the board as producer. Holing up at Creation Studios in Minneapolis\, they recorded Wise River in just four days. \n“Cory brought a little more orchestration\,” Shawn reveals. “He helped us really think differently and evolve the sound as a band.” \nOn the single and title track “Wise River\,” banjo brushes up against acoustic guitar as visuals of a “lonely river town where the barfly knows you best\,” “the ghosts of miners\,” and a place “where the snow can fall like cannonballs and lonesome wind blows bitter.” \n“The town of Wise River is basically a forgotten spot on the map\,” Shawn says. “It used to be a thriving place with many prosperous mines\, but now it’s practically dried up. There’s a hell of a lot of melancholy. In our mind\, it symbolizes the overall feeling of being in slowed-down Montana life.” \nMeanwhile\, “Stand At Ease” gallops along on nimbly strummed banjo and bright piano towards a chanting chorus\, “I can’t stand to see what you’ve done to be free.” \n“That one is based on the mental health issues in the music industry coming to light over the past couple of years\,” Joe reveals. “It’s about losing a lot of our friends and idols.” \n“Paradise Valley” surveys the landscape as the lyrics visit the remnants of underground bunkers once occupied by a doomsday cult in the north. The finale “Their Names Are The Trees” recants another true story of tragedy in the wilderness. \n“A good friend of ours is a wildland firefighter\,” Shawn goes on. “He was stationed out in Oregon on the Beachie Creek Fire\, which destroyed maybe three towns and killed several people. One night\, they were 15 miles back from the fire line. They wondered where the fire had moved in the wind\, but it overtook their camp\, the entire town they were stationed in\, and wiped it out. Several people didn’t make it.” \nIn the end\, Kitchen Dwellers share timeless American stories from the heart of one of its greatest treasures. \n“When you listen to Wise River\, I hope you hear some of the original qualities that made us who we are\, but you also recognize aspects that are new and adventurous\,” Max leaves off. “If you go to a studio with a whole new batch of songs\, it should never be the same as the last time. I hope you hear what it sounds like when the four of us are at home and have the space to create something together. This album is really how we sound as a band.” \n\nABOUT DANIEL DONATO \nWhen people first meet Daniel Donato\, they’re not fully braced for this walking tornado of creative energy. “They think there’s something that tips the scale in ways they don’t understand\,” says Donato about his over-the-top\, slightly manic vibe. “But what actually tips the scale is the amount of thought and analysis I put into my work and art\, all of which is taken from the lessons of my life.” \nDonato\, a 25-year-old Nashville native\, has distilled those life lessons into his debut album\, A Young Man’s Country\, his proper introduction to the general musical audience. Recorded at Nashville’s Sound Emporium in a mere two days and produced by guitar-ace Robben Ford\, the record weaves outlaw country\, Grateful Dead-style Americana\, and first-rate songwriting into a singular form Donato calls “21st-century cosmic country.” \nIt might surprise some that the Telecaster-wielding wunderkind\, who at 16 became the youngest musician to regularly play the iconic honky tonk Robert’s Western World while gigging with the Don Kelley Band\, began his musical journey in a purely millennial fashion. Before he ever picked up a guitar\, he discovered he had an aptitude for music via the video game Guitar Hero. At the time\, he didn’t feel compelled to try his hand at the real thing until one day\, about the age of 12\, he heard the electric perfection of Guns ‘N’ Roses’ “Paradise City” blast from a set of speakers and his world was changed forever. \n“It was the first time I ever had a vision for my life\,” says Donato\, who was partly drawn to music because he sucked royally at skateboarding. “I then took one of my dad’s old guitars . . . and I literally fell in love with it.” From then on\, Donato lived and breathed music\, practicing his chops around the clock. He’d play before school\, during his lunch break\, and in the evenings at home\, sometimes falling asleep with the six-string in his hands. \nIt wasn’t long before he was busking on lower Broadway in Nashville\, playing eight hours a day on weekends for tips. It was after one of those day’s sessions that he got a wild hair and snuck into Robert’s on a night when house act the Don Kelley Band was playing and his wig-dome was blown. “It was the first time I ever saw a band that was that good up close\,” Donato said. “So I’m literally watching them play and I’m crying. I decided right then that I wanted to be the best guitar player in the world.” \nDonato continued busking outside arenas before John Mayer and Phish concerts and on the streets of Nashville and it was then\, while playing on Broadway\, that he’d give Don Kelley his business card every Saturday night\, hoping for a chance to audition. One day\, while still a junior in high school\, he got the call to come play. Donato was more than ready\, and he delivered the goods in spades. He was so good\, in fact\, that he became a regular member of the band\, performing four nights a week for more than 450 shows with the group. \nPlaying nightly with the Don Kelley Band was a formidable education for the young musician. Jamming regularly with Nashville’s most seasoned players\, stalwart pickers who may have played in Buck Owens’ band\, or Dolly Parton’s\, or Alan Jackson’s\, expanded his musical vocabulary while honing his stage presence. Along the way he was soaking up stories of adventures on the road and learning about the ups and downs of the music business. In short\, he was gaining priceless life lessons and a musical education from wells that run deep into the musical history of Nashville. \nAround the time he turned 18\, one of Donato’s high-school teachers\, a serious music lover who had seen his student play at Robert’s\, gave him a Grateful Dead box set. It was another eureka moment for the guitarist. His love for the Dead may have been ignited much earlier by virtue of the fact that his mother was a bona fide Deadhead who followed the group on tour when she was pregnant with the future guitarist\, but it was that collection that changed the way he looked at music. “It gave me a tie to all of the classic country gold I’d been working down at the honky-tonks each weekend\,” he said. “Grateful Dead and Merle Haggard had always lived in my heart\, but now\, the link was made\, and I had a vision on how to keep it alive for this generation that I am coming from.” \nDuring the days of his Robert’s residency\, Donato continued to busk at various locales\, even playing the Grand Ole Opry\, and it is the sum of all these gigs\, experiences any teenage musician would kill for\, that inform the sounds on A Young Man’s Country. \n“Ain’t Living Long Like This\,” one of three covers on the album\, is a song by Waylon Jennings\, who was recording at the Sound Emporium the day Donato was born. “Angel From Montgomery\,” a song Donato learned on the fly while busking for tourists\, pays tribute to the late John Prine. Donato recorded his unique take on the tune before Prine’s death. The Grateful Dead’s “Fire On The Mountain” is tacked on to “Meet Me In Dallas\,” a tune Donato wrote while on the road with Paul Cauthen. The other seven songs\, all originals\, showcase the promise of a young songwriter coming into his own\, one of the highlights being “Luck of the Draw.” \nThe message of these songs contain the central tenet of Donato’s “Cosmic Country” ethos\, which is about finding the courage to blaze your own path. As such\, it is an ethos the artist extends beyond music into the channels of social media\, where he’s built up a huge following of devoted “DD Heads\,” as his fans call themselves. His podcast\, “Daniel Donato’s Lost Highway\,” brings together like-minded creatives to get at the heart of what makes artists tick\, for which he’s interviewed Brothers Osborne\, Brent Cobb\, Orville Peck\, and Garry Talent of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band. \nIncubated to the sounds of the Dead\, educated by some of Nashville’s finest players\, and having more than 2\,000 shows under his belt and a social media presence\, Daniel Donato is indeed a millennial whirligig of creative fire. He’s been dabbling in professional music since the age of 14 and yet he’s just getting started. A Young Man’s Country is the portrait of a restless artist as a young man\, one whose story is singular and is still in its exciting\, early chapters — and as this effort shows\, the future is indeed cosmic. \n\nBased on the latest local guidelines\, attendees are no longer required to provide proof of negative COVID-19 test AND/OR vaccination for entry into this event. Other shows on our calendar may still have specific health and safety requirements based on artist request.  Be sure to check our venue website for the latest updates and guidelines as entry requirements are subject to change. His unique countertenor voice is often supported by Jeremiah Satterthwaite (guitar)\, Travis Collins (bass/ voice)\, Hilary James (cello/ voice)\, and Josh McKay (drums).  Whether as a band or a solo artist\, We Are The Willows crafts dynamic songs with a contemplative air. The songs cover a lot of conceptual ground: from family history to modern social life and personal identity. \nWe Are The Willows has been releasing music since 2007.  The most notable release\, Picture (Portrait)\, a 20 song\, two part concept album based on letters written between Miller’s Grandparents during World War II\, garnered praise from NPR\, the BBC\, NOISEY\, PASTE magazine\, Buzzfeed\, The Brooklyn Vegan\, and USA Today.  Between 2009 and 2017 the band toured a great deal\, including showcasing at SXSW\, Treefort Music Fest\, Summerfest\, and supporting slots with Blitzen Trapper\, S. Carey\, PHOX\, and Matt Pond PA. \nIn the summer of 2020\, the band released their third full length record: Who We Are & Where We Are Now.  This album finds the band with more clarity\, consideration\, and sense of self.  These songs are about processing depression\, anxiety\, the nature of love\, and identity. This album is a testament to getting better for the people and things you love.  It’s an acceptance that there is no arrival point\, there’s only who we are & where we are now. It was March of 2020\, and as the COVID-19 pandemic began tightening its deadly grip across the United States\, the roots rock stalwart found himself forced off the road for the first time in years\, stuck at home with a calendar full of cancelled tour dates and no one to perform for. Concerned by the chaos unfolding around him but certain he wasn’t the only one in search of some kind of solace\, Ezra decided to pick up his guitar\, turn on his phone\, and do what he’d always done in times of worry or doubt: play a show. \n“I just started livestreaming from my house\,” Ezra recalls. “It was a way to connect with people\, to feel a little less lost\, a little less scared. I played and talked for about an hour\, and then at the end of the stream\, I told everybody\, ‘I’ll come back tomorrow if you come back tomorrow.’” \nEzra kept his promise and then some\, returning every single night after that for what he and his fans would eventually come to call The Gathering Series. Interactive and improvisatory\, the shows took shape on the fly\, drawing on daily life and frequently featuring newly written material and never performed songs from Ezra’s extensive back catalog. Through his own harrowing battle with COVID\, a move to the Mojave Desert\, a socially distanced summer tour\, and even his wedding day\, Ezra never missed a performance\, broadcasting without fail from wherever he found himself each night at 7pm Eastern. Driven by a belief that small grassroots communities have the power to impact the world\, Ezra – who has gone live daily since March 13th 2020 – has reached a cumulative audience of well over 15 million viewers worldwide\, a staggering feat for any artist that stands as a testament\, not only to his artistic endurance\, but also his ability to provide an accepting and supportive space for newcomers joining his tight-knit community of fans during a time when it’s needed more than ever. \n“The people who watch every night\, they’re tuning in for me\, but they’re also tuning in for each other\,” says Ezra. “They’re tuning in for comfort and compassion and connection\, but maybe also a sense of normalcy and grounding during this time that seems to be shaking the very foundations of who we’ve always thought we were. As special as The Gathering Series is\, I don’t think it could have achieved this kind of success if we didn’t have this incredible fan community around us that is inspired by engagement and activism.” \nWorking outside the confines of the traditional music industry\, Ezra and his band\, the Adam Ezra Group\, built that foundation through sheer grit and determination\, regularly performing hundreds of shows a year for the past two decades without any major label or mainstream radio support. Fusing folk intimacy and rock energy with soul power and pop charm\, the band first emerged from Boston in the early 2000s and quickly garnered widespread acclaim for their bold\, insightful songwriting and interactive\, euphoric performances. From hole in the wall bars and house concerts to sold-out headline shows and dates with the likes of Little Big Town\, The Wallflowers\, Gavin DeGraw\, Train\, and The Wailers\, Ezra and his bandmates treated every single gig like their last\, attracting a die-hard following that believed not just in the music\, but in their commitment to activism and social change\, as well. Charity events and fundraisers were a regular part of the group’s touring schedule\, and each year\, thousands of Adam Ezra Group fans would gather in Boston for the band’s homegrown festival\, The Ramble\, which raised money and marshaled resources to help homeless veterans find safe and dignified housing. \n“With the pandemic raging\, 2020 was going to be the first time in ten years that we couldn’t host a Ramble\,” says Ezra\, “so we decided to incorporate it into The Gathering Series and put on a 24-hour\, non-stop livestream. It was a crazy idea\, but by the end of it\, we had tens of thousands of people rambling with us from around the world and we’d broken our previous fundraising record\, collecting enough money to help 64 of our veteran heroes off the streets.” \nWhile that 24-hour livestream was undoubtedly the most taxing installment of The Gathering Series\, finding ways to broadcast a new\, unscripted hour of live music every night for a year was rarely easy. In April of 2020\, Ezra came down with COVID and found himself so weak he could barely get out of bed to perform. In May of 2020\, he and his wife traded Massachusetts for the Mojave\, setting up a temporary home base in a cabin outside Joshua Tree\, where Ezra would continue to stream daily from the desert. In the warmer months\, he and the band cooked up a way to bring The Gathering Series to the real world\, performing nearly 100 safe\, socially distanced shows in parks and backyards around the country while still managing to go live every night at 7pm. \nApart from the emotional and physical commitment\, playing every night hasn’t been without its logistical challenges as well. “I remember one night I was in a hotel\, and the WiFi went out\,” says Ezra. “I jumped in the van and just started driving until I found service\, and then I pulled over and played the show right there on the side of the road from the driver’s seat. Turned out to be one of my favorite memories looking back on the year.” \nAs if over 500 shows since the pandemic started isn’t enough to keep them busy\, Ezra and his bandmates—fiddler Corinna Smith\, drummer Alex Martin\, and bassist Poche Ponce—also embarked on an ambitious new recording series in 2020. Dubbed The Album Project\, the endeavor will see the band releasing at least 19 new singles over the next few years\, trading in the traditional LP format for a steady flow of fresh material designed to keep their ever-expanding community active and engaged even beyond the pandemic. The series opened up\, fittingly enough\, with “All Right Today\,” an effervescent\, feel-good ode to putting one foot in front of the other\, to living in the moment and leaning on one another to get through our hardest times. \n“I wrote that song years before COVID\,” says Ezra\, “but that line\, ‘We will be all right today\,’ kept coming back to me through this whole experience. It felt like a mantra I continue to lean on right now and the right way to kick this whole thing off.” \nIn celebration of their 365th Gathering show\, Ezra and the band followed that release up with The Album Project’s second installment\, “Switching To Whiskey\,” which hints at old-school country and Appalachian folk as it meditates on the power of heartbreak and memory. Like much of Ezra’s catalog\, the bittersweet track is intimate and organic\, fueled by stripped-down\, acoustic instrumentation and the kind of raw\, honest vocals that cut straight to the heart of things.  “Switching to Whiskey” has well over 225K streams on Spotify\, and a new music video on YouTube. \n“As soon as we started playing that one live\, it became one of our most-requested\,” says Ezra. “And the beauty of The Album Project is that when our fans are really connecting to something\, we can just record it and get it right out to them\, because they’re truly the engine behind everything we do.” \nThe third release from the project “Devil’s Kiss” released in May 2021\, and focuses on Ezra’s reaction to the Covid-19 pandemic\, and all of the challenges everyone has faced over the past year. \nWhat comes next for the Adam Ezra Group? They have started another socially distanced tour and have geared up to start a full routed tour again in June 2021. Perhaps another 24-hour livestream will be in the works? Perhaps something even crazier. The future is anyone’s guess right now\, and the only thing the Adam Ezra Group knows for sure\, is they’ll be out there making music however and whenever they can. Since forming in 2013\, the self-proclaimed “heavy psych” band has made its name via 4 Full-lengths\, 4EPs\, and tours with Clutch\, Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats\, All Them Witches\, The Sword\, and Elder. \nKing Buffalo will issue their fifth full-length\, Regenerator\, on Sept. 2\, 2022\, as a self-release in North America and through Stickman Records in Europe. Preorders will be available on June 10th via http://kingbuffalo.bigcartel.com. \nWritten and recorded by the band with mixing and engineering by Sean McVay and mastering by Bernie Matthews\, the seven-song outing is the third in King Buffalo’s stated ‘pandemic trilogy\,’ following Two of 2021’s Best Albums in The Burden of Restlessness and Acheron. \nBoth of those albums – like 2018’s Longing to Be the Mountain\, 2016’s debut\, Orion\, and the various EPs and other offerings they’ve made over the last eight years – made bold declarations about who King Buffalo are as a band\, and Regenerator is no different. As McVay\, Reynolds and Donaldson continue to explore the outer reaches of modern psychedelic songcraft\, melding progressive rhythms\, drifting atmospheres and accompanying surges of electricity\, the new collection only further establishes them as one of the brightest lights shining in underground rock today. \nAs the third of three\, Regenerator seems inherently to tie together the two LPs most immediately before it\, and as King Buffalo unfold the leadoff title-track across nine and half minutes\, it becomes clear just how truly they have marked out their own sonic presence. The later melodic highlight “Mammoth” – with McVay’s most confident vocal yet – shimmers with hope that somehow doesn’t come across as desperate\, and as “Hours” engages classic space rock and the closing “Firmament” summarizes the first\, second and third series installments\, the final chapter of this trilogy becomes the essential cornerstone of King Buffalo’s work to-date. \nThe band returned to live activity late last year\, touring alongside Clutch and more recently a full North American spring tour with Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats. By the time Regenerator arrives\, they will have completed a UK and European headlining tour with festival appearances in Germany\, the Netherlands\, Austria\, Switzerland\, Portugal\, Belgium and Denmark. \nKing Buffalo \nWebsite / Facebook / Bandcamp \n  \n  URL:https://www.high-noon.com/event/king-buffalo/ LOCATION:High Noon Saloon\, 701 East Washington Avenue\, Madison\, 53703 ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://www.high-noon.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/KingBuffalo-HNS-Web.jpg END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/Chicago:20221117T190000 DTEND;TZID=America/Chicago:20221117T230000 DTSTAMP:20240328T060239 CREATED:20220930T175059Z LAST-MODIFIED:20221003T150018Z UID:7895-1668711600-1668726000@www.high-noon.com SUMMARY:Marsden"Tune It Out" Album Release Party DESCRIPTION:  \n\nCOVID-19 POLICY\nBased on the latest local guidelines\, attendees are no longer required to provide proof of negative COVID-19 test AND/OR vaccination for entry into this event. Compared to a wide range of artists such as Harry Styles\, James Taylor\, Perfume Genius\, and Father John Misty\, he blends elements of indie pop\, folk rock\, and jazz to create lyrically reflective and emotionally charged music that feels both familiar yet pleasantly subversive. WSUM calls him “one of Madison’s hidden gems.” \nA child of two musicians\, Michael has been immersed in music his whole life. He grew up playing drums and later started singing and songwriting\, supplementing his voice with guitar and piano. He has played in jazz ensembles\, produced chip tune music for his own video games\, and performed his works at various venues all over Wisconsin—as a solo act\, with a backing band\, and with Madison-based collective MQBS. \nMichael started releasing music in 2020 with his debut single “Drive” and has since put out three singles from his upcoming EP. He has collaborated on a number of music videos with one of his long-time close friends Jake Viaene (Bard Media)\, and together they’ve quickly found their collective creative footing. \nIn December of 2021\, Michael decided to take a leap of faith and quit his corporate job to pursue music full-time. Since then\, he’s honed his social media presence\, amassing 2000 followers and nearly 200k video views on TikTok in a two month span. He’s also begun branching out from Madison\, booking and playing shows around Wisconsin and beyond. \nIn July 2022 Michael released “Spark”\, the title track of his upcoming debut EP. “Spark” is a song about burnout—through dating\, work\, or life in general. Drawing inspiration from Father John Misty and Elton John\, it’s the ballad of a hopeless romantic yearning for a deep connection in an online world. “Spark” marks Michael’s first time venturing outside of bedroom production and putting his music into the hands of the community\, featuring live drums and grand piano recorded at Madison’s own Audio for the Arts with Audrey Martinovich. Tone Madison describes the new song as “effortlessly compelling even as it stretches out for bigger arrangements and a longer run time.” \nNow officially a full-time musician\, Michael has his highest ambitions yet for the latter half of 2022. With his debut EP “Spark” set to release in fall\, hints at possible collaborations with other artists from Madison and beyond\, and his first tour in the works\, he is beyond excited to finally see all his plans come to fruition. Whether it be marathon 3-hour live performances\, or millions of albums sold worldwide\, and accolades both big and small\, there aren’t too many ‘distractions’ clouding up the vision of guitarist/vocalist/founder Robb Flynn these days. \nIn 2022\, Machine Head are back with their most crushing and complete album yet. ØF KINGDØM AND CRØWN is an hour-long conceptual monolith\, rich in colour and dynamics but hell-bent on destruction. Set in a futuristic wasteland where the sky is always crimson red\, ØF KINGDØM AND CRØWN tells the tale of two characters\, both faced with incalculable trauma\, whose stories become bloodily entwined as this deep\, dark record progresses. \n“The album and concept was loosely inspired by the Japanese anime series Attack On Titan\,” says Robb\, “in the sense that in that series\, there is no “good” or “bad” guy… both sides believe they’re doing the right thing\, but both are committing atrocities and evil.” \nAlbum opener\, “SLAUGHTER THE MARTYR\,” sets the tone for not only the record\, but the aural and psychological exploration the listener is about to embark on. From the first dissonant note\, its certain this is not only fresh canvas spelled out with lead vocalist Robb Flynn and bassist Jared MacEachern’s soaring vocal harmonies\, but its intent is as furious as anything the band has ever come up with. This track also begins the journey of our protagonists. \nFurther exploration of the damaged psyche blasts forth on “CHØKE ØN THE ASHES ØF YØUR HATE\,” a searing back and forth dose of Thrash Metal that could only come from the roots of the Bay Area. Unrelenting in its attack\, the breakneck pace only solidifies this as one of many standouts on ØF KINGDØM AND CRØWN. \nFrom the adrenaline rush of exorcising their inner demons to the innate feeling of solitude and regret comes “UNHALLØWED.” A dramatic introspective of questioning one’s motives and the fallout when the debts our expended emotions come to collect. Hopeless\, lost\, and isolated\, protagonist #2 begins the transformation from victim to victimizer over the melodic chaos courtesy of guitarist Vogg Kiełtyka. Radicalized\, paranoid\, and armed with a dead-end stare\, the mental onslaught ignites with the song\, “KILL THY ENEMIES.” The whiplash inducing thoughts pair up nicely with some of the thickest grooves on the album. \nThe album ends with arguably the finest song Machine Head have ever written: “ARRØWS IN WØRDS FRØM THE SKY”\, the grandiose but emotionally visceral climax to the finest and most ferocious album of the band’s 30 year career. \nA perennially vital force in heavy music\, Machine Head have continued their exhilarating evolution\, while never losing the furious spirit of their old school\, underground roots. Along the way\, Natty Nation has burst through genres while retaining a distinct roots reggae core. \nThrough it all—whether it’s onstage conducting its shamanistic live show\, or in the studio pushing the scope of its musicality while honing its sharp songcraft—Natty Nation has remained dedicated to one mission: spreading light. On March 11th\, 2016 Natty Nation issued its brightest beacon yet\, Divine Spark (iNatty Records)\, which debuted at #3 on the Billboard reggae chart. \n“Our ultimate goal is to uplift as many people as possible through sound and vibration\,” says frontman JAH Boogie – bass\, lead vocals (also percussion/drums in the studio). “To do that we hope to take our music to as many places on this earth and positively influence as many souls as we possibly can.” \nNatty Nation’s unique pedigree of a Midwest home base and artistic openness has helped the posse foster a signature sound. The group describes themselves as hard roots rock reggae because\, in addition to their honest and authentic roots reggae foundation\, their embrace of soul\, rock\, and funk is undeniable. Natty Nation is also influenced by such diverse geniuses as Michael Jackson\, Jimi Hendrix\, Living Colour\, Earth Wind and Fire\, Fishbone\, and Bad Brains. Since 1995\, Natty Nation has had fluid membership of esteemed and visionary musicians. Currently\, Natty Nation is led by JAH Boogie – bass/lead vocals\, Paule Willis — drums/percussion\, musical director Aaron Konkol – keyboards/vocals/melodica\, Nick Czar — guitar/vocals\, and finally Captain Smooth — live dub engineer. \nThe band’s name remains a conceptual and aesthetic touchstone for the group\, elucidating its wildly diverse cultural and aesthetic journeys. JAH Boogie explains: “The band got its name from a past member who coined it Natty Nation\, dealing with Rastafarian culture and tradition. Natty can be locks of hair (short for natural)\, unity\, or well dressed\, and nation denoting nationality. The idea is that the barriers of nations are not natural\, so the earth is the one natty nation\, and we are all earth citizens. We are all one. The only thing that separates us is the ego and its physical manifestations.” \nSince its inception\, Natty Nation has issued five uncompromising studio albums along with a string of epiphanic live albums. The tastemaking Madison alt-weekly\, Isthmus Magazine\, named their 1998 release Earth Citizen one of the “top 25 Madison pop albums of all time\,” writing that “Natty Nation’s mix of hard roots rock and reggae proved unique and gained a following that remains today.” In 2019 the group was inducted into the Madison Area Music Association Hall of Fame\, and to date has earned 31 Madison Area Music Association awards\, including artist of the year\, ensemble vocals\, world album\, and world performer of the year for nine years in a row. Natty Nation has also received a Wisconsin Area Music Industry award for best world artist. \nOne of the most profound components of Natty Nation’s artistry is its live show. In this context\, the band truly thrives\, and all the years as a unit\, the collective’s telepathic band interplay and colorful palette of music influences make for a fresh freewheeling reggae-focused experience. “We treat our recorded music as a calling card for people to come check us out live\,” JAH Boogie says. “The crowd plays a huge part in where our show goes. Which songs we do\, the vibe\, how long we play\, and most significantly how we play.” Natty Nation has built a robust artistic profile through tirelessly touring\, nationally and internationally. Select live career highlights include performing at SXSW\, Summerfest\, Freakfest\, and as well as throughout the Middle East\, Africa\, Japan\, and the Marshall Islands. \nDivine Spark is a lightning bolt of an inspirational album artistically and introspectively. JAH Boogie explains: “The Divine Spark is the higher self within everyone. I’ve learned that through raising your vibration and opening your chakras you are able to tap into your divine spark. Our music is for the mental\, spiritual\, and physical expansion of the human family. We are spiritual individuals who express our spirituality through the frequencies and tones of the music that we play.” \nArtistically it’s a watershed album as it was carefully crafted by the creative core of founding member JAH Boogie\, and longtime member Aaron Konkol\, who is a multi-instrumentalist and prodigious musical talent. The two shared music writing responsibilities while JAH Boogie retained lyric duties. Divine Spark also boasts a verse from acclaimed South Side\, Chicago-via-Madison rapper F. Stokes on the track “Civil Rights” and the entire album was mixed by legendary Bob Marley recording engineer Errol Brown\, other than the two dubs that close out the album which were produced by the band. \nHighlights on Divine Spark include the title track\, “Meditation\,” “Civil Rights\,” and “Prophecy.” The album’s spiritual core is the simmering and soulful title track. “This song deals with the spiritual essence of each human being\,” JAH Boogie explains. “The song also expresses that when you open your heart chakra it helps to open up the many other chakras within the spiritual body. When these energy centers or chakras are open then many other dimensions are open as well.” “Meditation” aptly conjures its name with sweetly languid grooves. Soul rebel militancy bubbles over with the aptly titled\, “Civil Rights” courtesy of F. Stokes’s fiery rhymes. And the rousing “Prophecy” is sure to inspire self-reflection. “This song deals with going within yourself to find out who you really are or what you really are. We all have spiritual guides or angels who reveal certain things to us\,” explains JAH Boogie. \nA fortuitous encounter at a Rebelution show enabled a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Aaron Konkol\, after marveling over Rebelution’s sparkling live sound\, ran into the group and asked who was manning the boards for their live show. To his astonishment\, it was Errol Brown (Bob Marley\, Gregory Isaacs\, Burning Spear\, among others). At the time\, Natty Nation had been chasing the optimum mix for years. Errol agreed to mix the album in his makeshift studio he built in the back of Rebelution’s tour bus. He worked closely with Aaron’s feedback and the two came up with a majestic mix. \nDivine Spark marks the beginning of an era of fevered creativity and watershed output for Natty Nation. Thinking back on the group’s perseverance\, JAH Boogie says: “We believe in creating positive energy in the universe\, and when we can see the people dancing\, smiling\, and nodding their head to our music\, and then coming up after the shows or reaching out to us to tell us how our music touched them profoundly\, or even just was a great soundtrack to a fun night\, it really means the world to us and keeps us on this path to make music.” URL:https://www.high-noon.com/event/natty-nations-annual-black-friday-show/ LOCATION:High Noon Saloon\, 701 East Washington Avenue\, Madison\, 53703 ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://www.high-noon.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/NattyNation-HNS-web.jpg END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/Chicago:20221126T203000 DTEND;TZID=America/Chicago:20221126T233000 DTSTAMP:20240328T060239 CREATED:20220927T172829Z LAST-MODIFIED:20221005T203126Z UID:7890-1669494600-1669505400@www.high-noon.com SUMMARY:The Last Waltz & Beyond DESCRIPTION:  \n\nCOVID-19 POLICY\nBased on the latest local guidelines\, attendees are no longer required to provide proof of negative COVID-19 test AND/OR vaccination for entry into this event. In 2022\, Baker has returned with The Festival\, a sonic embrace\, a call in for love\, and a cry out for connection. Baker wants us to bring our pain\nand suffering\, and align it all with melody. The Festival is a kaleidoscopic view in these complicated times. \nBest known as the songwriter and leader of Hey Rosetta!\, a Juno-nominated\, Polaris-shortlisted\, and multi award-winning band based in St. John’s\, Newfoundland. With over 15 years of performing their high-energy spectacle in stadiums\, clubs\, theatres and major festivals all over the world\, Hey Rosetta! called it quits in 2017. \nBaker has since transitioned from being the mover and shaker of a major indie rock band\, and ascended to a profound songwriter and producer. His solo LP\, Forever Overhead (Arts and Crafts)\, garnered him a Juno nomination for Songwriter of the Year\, three East Coast Music Awards (and several nominations)\, and a Polaris longlist. In 2019\, he released The Eighteenth Hole Variations EP\, the Side Door Sessions LP in 2020\, and that same year\, he released the Survivors EP. \n  \nERIC SLICK \n\nBlissfulness is at the core of Wiseacre\, the strikingly purifying sophomore record from Eric Slick. Wiseacre is a location\, literally. It’s the place he married the light in his life\, Natalie Prass\, and titling the record after it is an attempt at bottling the euphoria of his wedding day. The record isn’t just about the joy that comes from a loving existence blossoming out of a new relationship\, it’s also about the hard work that it takes to get to that place.“I’ve always been known as somebody who is on the sidelines\,” says Slick\, seeking to step out of the shadow of his previous roles. The majority of his time has been behind a drum set\, spending the last decade rounding out the industrious outfit Dr. Dog\, and as of late\, touring as a newlywed alongside his wife. Ironically\, the two met on Valentine’s Day at a Dr. Dog show before Slick had even joined the band. Slick’s previous solo work -his debut Palisades\, the orchestral Bullfighter\, and Out of Habit\, a John Fahey inspired EP pedaled as dollar bin ephemera -established the framework for the most significant project of his career thus far. While with Palisades and Bullfighter Slick mined his subconscious for the moodier and more abstract side of the coin\, Wiseacre is a technicolored exaltation. It reads like a novel\, sequencing in chronological order the ups and downs of self-acceptance before fully committing to someone else. “Before you get married\, you’re going through all the motions in your head\,” tells Slick\, “Am I worthy of marriage? Do I have the personality for this?” Across 10 songs\, Slick artfully sheds these insecurities resulting from fractured relationships (“Over It”)\, childhood trauma (“Children”)\, and his parents’ own hiccups (“Kind Of Person”). It’s an album about overcoming apprehensions so that he can find solace\, not only for himself\, but for the person he is now devoted to. By asking the question\, “Why did I think loving you was above me?” on “Haunted”\, Slick acknowledges that you don’t have to have a dark cloud hanging over your head to make meaningful art. “You can’t keep up chaos for your whole life\, it just doesn’t work. I’ve seen it my whole life with bands that we’ve toured with where it becomes this unsustainable\, untenable thing. So yeah\, fuck that.” This album comes as a welcomed rejection of the cliche that an artist needs to be a mess in order for their music to hold substance. After a year of false starts the LP was primarily recorded in a week alongside burgeoning producer Jeremy Ferguson at Nashville’s Battle Tapes Recording. From a rare and custom built Spectrasonics mixing board to just about every guitar pedal imaginable\, Ferguson had the tools to inspire moments like the off-kilter guitar solo in “Closer to Heaven”\, applying a pedal that starved its own power supply\, intermittently shorting it out. “I think it’s just a matter of time before everybody starts recording with him\,” predicted Slick\, “He’s a genius.”In addition to efforts made by one of his oldest friends and an indispensable guide for the record\, Andy Molholt of Speedy Ortiz & Laser Background\, vocal contributions were made by Steven Drozd of The Flaming Lips\, the prolific Butch Walker\, and a central force in Wiseacre’s DNA\, the radiant Natalie Prass offering a shimmering duet on the record’s apex single “Closer to Heaven.” The story behind “Closer to Heaven” stems from a recurring dream of being trapped in a three-story house with the bottom floor representing hell\, and the subsequent levels symbolizing purgatory and heaven. Each floor was dotted with the characters from his past\, sorted into their respective levels dependent upon their influence on his life. Prass’s voice is like an extended hand\, pulling him upward past the destructive faces and into the plane of proverbial Eden.\n\n\n\nAfter a heady first half\, the record begins to wind down a bit\, blossoming into something prettier. If the start of Wiseacre is peeling away at life’s chaos\, the latter half is welcoming the moments of cohesion amongst the chaos\, namely\, his own wedding. Singing “Tears streaming in the sun\, and you are the one\,” Slick reflects on when he was left uncontrollably crying as the woman he was about to marry walked down the aisle towards him on the touching track “Someday.” The song continues to ruminate on the couple’s destiny -growing old together\, finding joy in each other\, and eventually fizzing out with a mind at peace. And as much as that song is about his wife\, the most affecting line is a love letter and a gift to everyone important in his life\, assuring them “I’ll be in the air with you.” URL:https://www.high-noon.com/event/tim-baker/ LOCATION:High Noon Saloon\, 701 East Washington Avenue\, Madison\, 53703 ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://www.high-noon.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/TimBaker-HNS-Web.jpg END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/Chicago:20221129T200000 DTEND;TZID=America/Chicago:20221129T230000 DTSTAMP:20240328T060239 CREATED:20220816T160050Z LAST-MODIFIED:20221128T195128Z UID:7724-1669752000-1669762800@www.high-noon.com SUMMARY:Skegss DESCRIPTION:  \n\nCOVID-19 POLICY\nBased on the latest local guidelines\, attendees are no longer required to provide proof of negative COVID-19 test AND/OR vaccination for entry into this event. Their riotous releases have sparked circle pits and stage dives all over—from dingy pubs and skate parks\, to 20K capacity festival stages—and led the three lads on countless world tours. They’ve even topped the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) singles charts numerous times and\, more recently\, their debut LP My Own Mess reached number two on the album charts and earned an ARIA Award nomination for ‘Best Rock Album.’ Australia’s coastal sensation never lost their underdog flair despite their achievements\, and it’s that same spirit that defines their second studio album\, Rehearsal—a 13-track thrill ride through modern disillusioned youth. \nReleased late March 2021 via Loma Vista Recordings Rehearsal debuted at #1 on Australia’s ARIA Album and Vinyl sales chart with first week sales and was the triple j feature record. In addition- Rehearsal earned the trio of Toby\, Ben Reed (vocals\, guitar)\, and Jonny Lani (drums) their first cover story at NME Australia\, while its singles collectively earned early praise and support from Consequence\, DIY\, Rolling Stone Australia (‘Song You Need to Know’) and had 2 tracks place in the triple j Hottest 100 voted singles of the year. (‘Under the Thunder‘ (#27) and ‘Fantasising‘ (#66)) \nRehearsal was recorded at The Grove Studios with Grammy-award winning producer Catherine Marks (Foals\, Wolf Alice)\, who added a veteran’s finesse and expanded upon the rustic charm of demos the band tracked at The Music Farm using vintage gear from the ‘60s and ‘70s. From Reed’s self-made lyrical philosophies inspired by his favorite stand-up comedians to Toby Cregan’s reflections on life and his dog\, Rehearsal is the most candid and electrifying snapshot we’ve seen of Skegss yet. \n  \nFlying Machine \nWith elements of Punk\, Garage and Psychedelic Rock\, Flying Machine‘s music can be hard to define. The Australian 4 Piece formed in Byron Bay\, jamming and writing songs in their garage. They soon released their first Ep and started sharing stages with some of the noisiest and well-received punk bands around. \n  \nAdam Newling \nRaised in Cronulla born to first-generation Greek mother and Aussie father\, Adam Newling is an alternative artist who utilises country sensibilities and eclectic knowledge of sound in his music to unprecedented effect. With big dreams of one day performing in the heart of Nashville\, he has arrived to light up our hearts\, guitar in hand. \nNewling has taken this driving passion for music and has taken it onto the road\, playing with a vast range of wonderfully talented folks such as the inimitable Ruby Fields\, who have taught him lessons that he will take with him forever. Now\, he is more ready than ever to endeavour on his very own debut project\, making songs that feel unabashedly special\, and overwhelmingly urgent. \nInspired by the likes of Buck Meek of Big Thief and solo fame\, who has set the benchmark for uniqueness in an oversaturated world\, and the captivating\, dream-like music of Molly Burch\, it is clear as day that Newling is influenced by exceptional creatives. In the same vein as these artists\, and many others who create country-tinged indie rock\, Newling hopes to shine a light in the dark\, fusing unabashed creativity with heartfelt lyricism. It’s about time we gave bugs some love! Shawn Steffan and Jacki Whisenant are your two Insect Ambassadors. Shawn will be discussing the power of insect-microbe symbioses through deep evolutionary time\, using bees\, leaf-cutter ants\, and bark beetles as examples! Jacki Whisenant will be taking us behind the scenes at the UW Zoology Museum and their flesh-eating beetle colony!\n\nNext up is Whitney Thompson\, giving a talk about the “Taylor Swift” of the 1800s: Under the nom de plume of Claribel\, Charlotte Alington Barnard (1830-1869) published over 100 songs between 1859 and 1869\, mostly in the sentimental- or drawing-room-ballad genre. Despite the domesticity suggested by the genre’s name\, her songs were so popular that they escaped the drawing room and became staples not just of amateur music societies\, but also of large public concerts. However\, with her success came a fierce backlash from the trade press. Publications like The Orchestra and The Athenaeum decried the profusion of “Claribel-ware\,” occasionally outright calling the music “trash” and particularly protesting the nascent royalty system in which Claribel took part. Her career may have only lasted a decade\, but Claribel was nonetheless at the forefront of some massive changes in both the business and culture of music.\n\nLast up is Kevin Bachhuber\, who has a different angle on insect appreciation: food! He founded the US’s first FDA inspected human food grade insect farm\, and continues to work in the industry today. Soren Staff and Beau Janke—co-founders of folk/rock/Americana outfit Them Coulee Boys—met as counselors at a bible camp in northern Wisconsin in 2011. Having both grown up amidst a stretch of glacial melt-carved river valleys in the upper Midwest\, otherwise known by French fur trappers as coulees\, they became fast friends. Camp counselors actually coined the name “them coulee boys” as a way to refer to the constant companions\, more often than not with instruments in hand. Soren’s little brother Jens joined the crew on mandolin at camp in 2012\, and since\, both Neil Krause on bass and Staš Hable on drums have helped to grow the band into the rollicking outfit it is today. \n2021 marks the release of their fourth record\, Namesake\, a ten-song collection that spans from pure and genuine ballads to a leaping\, countrified take on rock and roll. Singles from the recording have premiered via The Bluegrass Situation\, Ditty TV\, and Live for Live.\nTwangville readers dubbed the record “Best New Release”. \nNamesake was recorded at The Hive in the band’s hometown of Eau Claire\, WI. The album was produced by Grammy-winner Brian Joseph who has worked with the likes of Paul Simon\, Sufjan Stevens\, Ani Difranco\, and The Indigo Girls\, and earned his Grammy producing and engineering Bon Iver’s Bon Iver. Taking inspiration from the intimate nature of The Hive after a long period of quarantine\, Namesake feels familial—like old friends with no need for small talk. There are moments of power and punch\, balanced with intimacy only felt between the ones we love. \nNamesake finds Them Coulee Boys following a new trajectory\, combining their signature take on folk-grass and Americana with comfort on electric instruments and playing rock and roll. The record lives and breathes. It’s both intimate and bombastic. It’s the sweet aunt who makes delicious pies and the wiley uncle who’s not afraid to hit a bit of the hooch. At the bottom is the acceptance that comes with family and old friends; none of us are perfect\, but there’s enough love out there to make up for it. \nFor all things Them Coulee Boys\, please visit themcouleeboys.com. \nMore About Them Coulee Boys: With three full-length albums and an EP behind them\, including 2019’s Die Happy (produced by Trampled By Turtles’ Dave Simonett on Lo-Hi Records)\, the band has garnered international attention and earned press in American Songwriter and The Bluegrass Situation\, as well as tours with Trampled By Turtles and a spot on the songwriter’s Cayamo Cruise. In 2020\, they were named Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Band to Watch. In 2021\, they won Bluegrass/Americana Band of the Year by the Wisconsin Area Music Industry.
