SUNDE\n \nJ.E. Sunde (Jonathan Edward Sunde) is a songwriter and composer based out of Minneapolis\, MN. Jon studied western classical music with a vocal emphasis at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. Starting in college\, Jon spent ten years making beautifully unusual music with The Daredevil Christopher Wright. He has since released three solo records with his most recent record\, “9 Songs About Love\,” released in November of 2020. With a love of songwriters and performers like Leonard Cohen\, Nina Simone\, and Paul Simon\, Jon writes densely poetic songs with a bent toward the philosophical. Also\, his voice sounds like some sort of weird angel. \nABOUT ANNA VOGELZANG \nAnna Vogelzang has proven herself the emerging musical force behind this age-old belief. Anna — a melody-driving\, songwriting\, multi-instrumentalist — has spent her formative years spread across the country\, learning the musical languages of the Midwest\, West Coast\, New England and all that lies in between. Building community from coast to coast\, she has traveled with home on her fingertips\, her music peppered with flavors of nostalgia and perpetual motion. \n  \n  URL:https://www.high-noon.com/event/j-e-sunde-anna-vogelzang/ LOCATION:High Noon Saloon\, 701 East Washington Avenue\, Madison\, 53703 ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://www.high-noon.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/JE-Anna-Web.jpg END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/Chicago:20220920T200000 DTEND;TZID=America/Chicago:20220920T230000 DTSTAMP:20240328T193021 CREATED:20220727T150000Z LAST-MODIFIED:20220727T182528Z UID:7695-1663704000-1663714800@www.high-noon.com SUMMARY:Josiah Johnson DESCRIPTION:  \n\nCOVID-19 POLICY\nBased on the latest local guidelines\, attendees are no longer required to provide proof of negative COVID-19 test AND/OR vaccination for entry into this event. Please note that artist merchandise sales are separate and may still accept cash. \n\n  \nVivian Leva & Riley Calcagno’s self-titled record is old-soul roots music to its core. Though both just out of college\, the duo’s musical talents extend far beyond their years. Produced by GRAMMY-winning Cajun roots heavyweight Joel Savoy at his Louisiana studio\, Vivian Leva & Riley Calcagno (released March 12\, 2021 on Free Dirt Records) is not some soulless collection of songs imitating previous masters of American music. Rather\, the pair has responded to one of the darkest eras in American history with an album of stunning breadth and originality. With mass protests\, fires raging near their current home in the Pacific Northwest\, and no prospect of touring anytime soon\, it’s an aptly biting\, bittersweet group of songs for an uncertain time. Yet\, Leva and Calcagno balance this with a sense of optimism—a notion that at our most vulnerable we might emerge better humans because of it all\, perhaps beginning with our own intimate relationships. The eleven tracks elegantly reprise the deep threads of old-time and classic country present throughout Leva’s debut album—she did grow up in rural Appalachia outside Lexington\, Virginia\, the daughter of celebrated old-time musicians\, after all. However\, the pair fluidly meld this traditional backbone with fresh iconic melodies\, expanded production\, and the tightly wound vocal harmonies of indie folk. It’s an artistic statement made from this moment but built to last.\n\nVivian Leva & Riley Calcagno follows Leva’s critically acclaimed 2018 debut\, Time Is Everything\, which garnered rave reviews from publications like Rolling Stone who said the album shone “a light on the past without giving up its place in the present.” Leva was hailed for her mature\, deeply grounded songwriting\, surprising for a songwriter not quite 20 years old at the time. She wields the same golden pen on the new album\, though Calcagno lends a hand too with songwriting and arrangements\, pulling Leva’s songs in new directions and down unexpected pathways. While their previous album centered around the passage of time\, the couple’s new record explores themes of space and distance. Leva and Calcagno were working on these songs well before COVID\, but were separated by half the country while attending different universities. With Leva on the West Coast and Calcagno in Ohio\, the two sent each other songs as voice memos or worked on them during weekend visits.\n\nBoth Leva and Calcagno grew up in the Appalachian string band tradition\, have noted parents in the old-time scene\, and spent formative years running wild around festival campgrounds. They are steeped in an instrumental culture of hard-picking and virtuosic musicianship; indeed there are plenty of online videos of them tearing through all-night jam sessions. Leva recently joined Calcagno’s former teen stringband The Onlies\, releasing an album of fire-breathing fiddle tunes in late 2020. However\, what sets Leva and Calcagno apart—in addition to their work as instrumentalists—is their almost preternatural talent as songwriters. Great pickers don’t necessarily make great songwriters; it’s an entirely different art to be able to translate the world of rural Appalachia into a country song that can still make a personal point. As young artists stepping into the spotlight during one of the most brutal periods in our history it’s clear they’ve built something that can last\, something that speaks to our present time while reminding us of the best parts of where we came from. After Keegan enlisted friends Danny Bengston (bass) and Erik Jimenez (drums) to flesh out his material\, the trio soon began gigging around the CalArts campus area and involving themselves with the Southern California D.I.Y. scene. Their noisy\, boozy shows earned them a loyal following and they began releasing a variety of indie cassettes\, singles\, and EPs\, eventually issuing their full-length debut\, Jelly Jam\, in 2010. \nThe group worked with a variety of small labels and in 2012 released its second LP\, Living Dummy\, on esteemed California indie Burger Records. Between their touring and the second album’s strong reception\, Together Pangea entered the international radar\, and attracted the attention of London’s legendary Harvest Records\, which signed the band in 2013. \nTheir third album (and first for Harvest)\, Badillac\, was released in early 2014. In October 2015\, Together Pangea returned to Burger Records to release the six-song EP The Phage. Produced by former Replacements bassist Tommy Stinson\, the EP also introduced new guitarist Roland Cosio. The group’s next full-length album\, 2017’s Bulls and Roosters\, was co-produced by Badillac’s Andrew Schubert and marked their debut on the Warner-distributed Nettwerk label. Recorded with producers Adrian Olsen (Foxygen\, Natalie Prass) and Vance Powell (Jack White\, Kings Of Leon\, Chris Stapleton)\, the record is blissful and ecstatic\, with a mix of raw electric guitars\, propulsive drums\, and shimmering harmonies that showcases the band’s remarkable live setup—Gorman plays guitar with his hands and synth bass with his feet\, while his musical partner\, Jake Cochran\, plays a standup drum kit\, which captures the scintillating energy that’s fueled their journey. \nGorman and Cochran first met while attending college in Harrisonburg\, VA\, where they discovered a shared passion for sustainable living and community building. After graduation\, they took over a local organic farm\, spending their days tending crops and working farmer’s markets and their nights performing anywhere they could land (or make) a gig. Dubbing themselves the Petrol Free Jubilee Carnival Tour\, the pair would often tour the region on their bikes\, sometimes joined by as many as two dozen other cyclists and artists\, performing at coffee houses\, street corners\, rock clubs\, and off-the-grid communities. \nHailed as “a perfect addition to your summertime playlist” by NPR\, the band honed in on their distinctive sound and identity over years of relentless touring\, earning dates along the way with the likes of Shakey Graves\, Rayland Baxter\, Mt. Joy\, Rainbow Kitten Surprise\, Futurebirds\, and The Head and The Heart in addition to high-profile festival slots at Bonnaroo\, Lollapalooza\, Newport Folk\, and more. We let go of who we were in the past and embrace who we’re meant to be now. The Deslondes have taken such steps as not only bandmates\, but as brothers. The New Orleans quintet—Dan Cutler\, Sam Doores\, Riley Downing\, Cameron Snyder\, and John James Tourville—have weathered ups\, downs\, and everything in\nbetween only to strengthen the bond between them. \nInfusing everything from saxophone\, flute\, and synth to string arrangements and a full drum kit for the first time\, the group naturally progress and evolve in real-time on their third full-length offering\, Ways & Means [New West Records]. “The title reminds me of being young\, getting into the music business\, going through everything\, and coming out of it\,” Riley observes. “We’re taking a look right\, left\, and back at ourselves.” \n“We were letting go of a bunch of old dynamics that left us burnt out\,” adds John James. “However\, we’re focused on being productive and on the other side.” \nThe “other side” might just be their brightest yet. The Deslondes revealed their self-titled debut to widespread tastemaker applause during 2015. However\, they really hit their stride on Hurry Home in 2017. Right out of the gate\, Noisey proclaimed\, “The Deslondes have found a comfortable sound to create art in\, and it serves them well\,” while Rolling Stone noted\, “The Deslondes’ take on country relies on a gritty\, grimy mix of early rock ‘n’ roll and lo-fi R&B.” In addition to praise from American Songwriter\, Paste\, The Boot\, and more\, the record closed out the year on Uncut’s “Favorite Albums of 2017.” \nThen\, the musicians opted to quietly take a break. In the meantime\, Sam shared his self-titled debut as Riley also served up his solo album\, Start It Over. Maybe it was something in the air\, but 2021 seemed like the perfect moment for the boys to pick up where they left off. “I reached out to everybody individually\,” recalls John James. “Dan’s got kids\, and I’ve got kids. We’d been touring for a long time. Once I called\, it seemed like everyone was really into it. We were excited about doing it again.” \n“I was in Lawrence\, KS visiting my folks at the height of the Pandemic\,” Sam remembers. “I was walking down Massachusetts Avenue on a Sunday morning and wondering what I had left to give the world. Perhaps\, I was experiencing a mild existential crisis from living off unemployment and facing the cancellation of my album release tours. Luckily\, my phone rang. John James asked how I’d feel about making another Deslondes record with so much genuine enthusiasm it was contagious. We all owe it to him. Instinctually\, a resounding ‘Hell Yes’ came out of my mouth.” \nMissing the camaraderie\, the guys congregated at old haunt The Tigermen Den. Together\, they worked out the songs before they entered the Bomb Shelter with longtime producer Andrija Tokic. This time around\, members brought in a host of ideas and agreed upon the process before recording. \n“We came to some personal agreements about how everything was going to go down in advance\,” Dan elaborates. “From experience\, we realized what we liked and who was good at what. In terms of the studio\, it was probably the easiest album we’ve ever made. Usually\, we’re too busy touring to put a lot of thought into pre-production and ideas. This was definitely the most prepared we’ve ever been beforehand.” \nThe preparation shines on the likes of the first single “South Dakota Wild One.” On the track\, harmonica wails over acoustic strumming. Simultaneously\, Riley’s grizzled and gruff delivery simmers above a slow burning beat punctuated by a soulful lead. \n“It’s a nostalgic song about getting into music\, traveling\, and running into the special people who were around then\, but aren’t around now\,” notes Riley. Elsewhere\, the opener “Good To Go” saunters on airy electric piano towards a heavenly and hummable saxophone solo. \n“If ‘South Dakota Wild One’ was the beginning of traveling and playing music\, ‘Good To Go’ is where we’re at now\,” Riley continues. “We’re still out here. We’re still good to go. The songs bookend each other.” \nThen\, there’s “Dunes.” A twang-y riff underscores a fifties-style melody as guitar echoes. “It’s about the arc of a love affair—a relationship that went wrong eventually\,” Dan says. “It explores\nthe symmetry of a relationship and how things come full circle in our life.” \nThe dreamy “Five Year Plan” nods to Harry Nilsson with its dusty bliss\, plinking keys\, and cinematic orchestration. Album closer “Hero” takes flight on soaring slide guitar and wistful vocal delivery. \n“I grew up in a real tight-knit family in the country\,” Riley goes in. “We all pitched in to take care of my grandmother at the end of her life. We’re our own heroes to our families and friends. I needed to write the song to remind myself you can be your own hero. If it helps me\, maybe it will help someone else.” \nIn the end\, The Deslondes draw on their own familial union to forge a similar connection with listeners. \n“To us\, this is family\,” John James leaves off. “It’s a part of our lives. When you hear our music\, I hope you feel like you’re hanging out with us. The band’s back together now\, and it just feels good.” \n“Riley\, JJ\, Dan\, and Cam are my brothers\,” Sam concurs. “We’ve all been through so much together. I don’t think any of us will have that experience with another group of people again in our lives. Sometimes\, we drive each other crazy of course\, but we’re family. I’d take a bullet for any of those geezers.” URL:https://www.high-noon.com/event/the-deslondes/ LOCATION:High Noon Saloon\, 701 East Washington Avenue\, Madison\, 53703 ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://www.high-noon.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/GZ4A2908-scaled.jpg END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/Chicago:20221001T170000 DTEND;TZID=America/Chicago:20221001T190000 DTSTAMP:20240328T193021 CREATED:20220925T184445Z LAST-MODIFIED:20220925T190606Z UID:7878-1664643600-1664650800@www.high-noon.com SUMMARY:Christopher Gold DESCRIPTION:Catch Christopher Gold on the High Noon Saloon patio before heading over to The Sylvee for the Gary Clark Jr. show!  In the event of unfavorable weather\, this show will be moved inside the High Noon. \n  \nChristopher Gold is a Kentucky-born songwriter living in Wisconsin. Highly influential to many of the bands who have followed in their path\, Agent Orange have always stayed one step ahead. \nTheir strong connection to the Action Sports world has resulted in their music providing the soundtrack to numerous major motion pictures\, video games\, surf and skate films\, television\, and live sports events. \nThe last of the true independents\, Agent Orange have managed to stay true to their roots\, while always moving forward. Powered by a loyal following built up through years of explosive live performances all over the world\, Agent Orange continue to deliver their Fullblown-Supercharged-Punk-Surf Sound on an international basis\, with a never ending schedule of tours in the United States\, Canada\, South America\, Europe\, Australia\, and Japan. \nC’mon down front and expose yourself to Agent Orange. He grew up in the former Soviet Union\, where folk music was the norm and rock’n’roll was illegal. A rebellious streak\, led him to seek out the forbidden music. As soon as it became possible\, Igor left Russia for America with his “Folk’n’Roll” band Limpopo\, and was personally greeted by Ronald Reagan. In 1993\, Limpopo won Ed McMahon’s Star Search and their popularity began to blossom. In 1995\, Igor dreamed that Elvis Presley came to him and told him to start playing rock’n’roll. Igor and his Russian friends became Red Elvises and gave street performances on Santa Monica’s 3rd Street Promenade. As their crowds grew larger\, the City of Santa Monica ordered them to discontinue their street performances. Evolving over the years\, Igor’s music has been labeled “Siberian Surf Rock” which contains humorous lyrics and grooves that forces his audience to dance. Over the past 20 years\, Red Elvises have constantly toured all over the world with occasional breaks to record new music and to participate in film and television projects. \nAs an independent band\, Red Elvises have produced 12 studio albums\, two live albums\, a live concert DVD\, and a Greatest Hits compilation. Some of their most notable film contributions include music and or performances in “Six String Samurai”\, “Mail Order Bride”\, “Armageddon”\, “Skippy”\, “Melrose Place”\, “Fastlane”\, “Penn and Teller’s Sin City Extravaganza”\, “VH-1 Behind the Music”\, and “MTV”. The gold-certified Los Angeles-based singer\, producer\, and multi-instrumentalist channels the spirit of nineties pop-punk through a 21st century lens\, tapping into the unpredictability of hyperpop\, the catharsis of hardcore\, and a whole lot of hip-hop finesse. His debut single “Fast” blew up in a big way during 2019. It captured #1 on TikTok\, #1 on Spotify’s Viral 50 — Global\, and #1 on the Viral 50 — US\, reached gold status\, and attracted Offset and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie for its high-powered Official Remix. On the heels of his first full-length project MISCREANT\, he teamed up with Ty Dolla $ign\, Wiz Khalifa\, and Lil Yachty for “Speed Of Life\,” Papa Roach on “Swerve” [feat. FEVER 333 & Sueco]\, and Illenium on “Story Of My Life” [feat. Sueco & Trippie Redd]. Along the way\, he kicked off his next chapter\, embracing his earliest influences with producers and cowriters such as John Feldmann [Machine Gun Kelly\, Avril Lavigne\, Jxdn\, 5SOS] and Colin “DOC” Brittain [5SOS\, Papa Roach]. He served up “PRIMADONA\,” “SOS” [feat. Travis Barker]\, “Sober/Hungover” [feat. Arizona Zervas]\, and “Paralyzed.” Spotify’s “New Music Friday” plugged the latter\, and it marked his first entry on Billboard and Rolling Stone charts\, tallying 56 million Spotify streams. But for almost 15 years\, William Clark Green has done both with a nod to his home state itself\, both rooted in the past and barreling toward the future. \nBoasting sandpaper vocals and country-rock sound at the crossroads of back-alley grit and gravel-road grace\, the Flint\, Texas\, native emerged like many others before – sauntering out from Lubbock’s live music loving college-bar scene. But he has since carved a space that is uniquely his own. Pairing singer-songwriter tradition with a progressive musical mindset\, he’s both a troubadour of troubled souls and maestro to lyrical mischief\, renowned for underdog anthems filled with sardonic wit\, vivid characters and even historical curiosity. \nOver five previous albums\, multiple Number Ones on Texas Regional Radio have joined iTunes Country Album chart toppers\, the respect of critics and peers and a vibrant touring profile anchored on Texas’ biggest stages. But even after so much success\, two years of treading water left Green looking to get beyond his comfort zone. \n“My whole mentality is that if my voice went out tomorrow\, or I lost my arm and my career ended\, I’ve got nothing but gratefulness\,” Green explains\, flashing his signature sense of dark humor. “But in some ways\, we wanted to reach and see what else is out there. I think the band is ready\, I think I’m ready\, and it’s not really about money or anything. It’s about feeling that high again\, feeling that new-ness.” \nReturning with Baker Hotel\, his sixth studio album and first in almost four years\, Green goes after that new-ness with an open mind\, and the thoughtful approach of roots-rock poet. Just as each album before it\, he continues mixing Lone-Star mythos into his storytelling\, this time occupying an abandoned monument to the past in Mineral Wells\, Texas. But as he hinted above\, Baker Hotel takes his craft to new heights. Even for an artist who’s fans expect the unexpected\, it finds Green raising his game to the proverbial penthouse suite. \nFeaturing 13 tracks and the return of producer Rachel Loy (Rose Queen\, Ringing Road)\, the set taps everything from lush ‘80s pop to classic highway rock and traditional Western balladry\, as  Green seeks out new sonic connections – and probes deeper into his soul than ever. The set arrives after a grueling 2019 tour which featured more than 170 shows\, then the isolation of a pandemic shutdown\, and it’s that push and pull of burnout\, creative detox and almost-meditative rejuvenation that drives the project – all captured through the eyes of a deadpanning interstate philosopher. \n“Songwriting is such a weird deal for me\, because everything I write about is true\,” Green admits. “What this record means to me is self-reflection\, realizing that I just turned 35 and it’s like ‘Where am I at in life? Where do I want to be? Where did I think I would be?’ Not being able to work\, I had a lot of time to sit and think about myself\, and what’s really locking me down\, and that’s what I think this record is about.” \nThe title track best captures the dual nature of that growth. Waiting until early 2021 to record\, Green gathered a small group in his guitar player’s Texas home studio – his first in-state recording since 2010’s Misunderstood – and they simply let the spirit move them. \nCo-written by Green with Ross Copper and Dean Phillips\, “Baker Hotel” checks in with a classic dose of historic whimsy\, landing squarely in the vein of much-loved adventure anthems like “Ringling Road.” But then it builds on precedent\, adding in a strutting rockabilly groove. \nNow dilapidated\, but still towering 14 stories over Mineral Wells\, the real-life Baker Hotel was once among the nation’s most illustrious\, hosting everyone from Bonnie & Clyde to Marilyn Monroe and Ronald Regan. Green’s tribute likewise toasts the local tradition of sneaking in and climbing to the top\, and with plans to revitalize it underway\, his spooky-roots barnstormer salutes the past as a new age arrives. \nElsewhere\, however\, Green’s not working off any playbook at all. Recording freshly written songs\, sometimes penned just the day before\, Green and his team felt free to roam. Some of his most challenging vocal performances are joined by in-the-moment arrangements\, including craggy country rockers drenched in steel guitar\, barstool ballads and two-steppers built for packed venues all across the nation – plus orchestral strings and the fat-bottomed bass lines of daydreamy plains pop. \nEach new track is almost like a different guest in the Baker Hotel itself\, as Green explores themes of evolution in myriad ways. \n“I think the entire COVID quarantine\, it was about breaking out of chains to get back to normal on the outside\, but also in an inner way\, too\,” he says. “It’s just a way different observation on myself and the world than I’ve ever had before.” \nThe high-flying “Feel Alive” may be project’s spiritual focus. Soaring with optimistic determination and a vocal that approaches the heavens\, it’s the joyful sound of a soul opening up. With tracks like the confessional “Getting Drunk\,” a lifelong good-timer wonders what he’s trying to drown out. And “Leave Me Alone” finds a guy arguing with himself in head spinning hill-country pop. \nMeanwhile\, “Dog Song” pairs Green’s sly humor with a funky\, four-legged foundation and a charming romantic turnaround. “Me\, Her and You” dresses a classic-Western heartbreaker in stunning strings. “All You Got” writhes with ‘90s alternative rock frustration\, and “Give a Damn” shimmers like the last rays of a West Texas sunset\, somehow feeling both empty and electrifying. \nNo\, it’s no small feat to grow while staying true to who you are … and for a proud Texan\, true to where you’ve been. But if the last year-plus has taught him anything\, it’s that the future is uncertain – so live fearlessly and blaze new trails while you can. \n“I’m so fired up to go\, its ‘Like let’s see where the road leads?’” he says. “I don’t have any kind of constraints\, and that is bad ass.” URL:https://www.high-noon.com/event/william-clark-green/ LOCATION:High Noon Saloon\, 701 East Washington Avenue\, Madison\, 53703 ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://www.high-noon.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/WilliamClarkGreen-HNS-Web.jpg END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/Chicago:20221006T200000 DTEND;TZID=America/Chicago:20221006T200000 DTSTAMP:20240328T193021 CREATED:20220531T151606Z LAST-MODIFIED:20220531T152537Z UID:7543-1665086400-1665086400@www.high-noon.com SUMMARY:Reverend Horton Heat DESCRIPTION:Based on the latest local guidelines\, attendees are no longer required to provide proof of negative COVID-19 test AND/OR vaccination for entry into this event. Other shows on our calendar may still have specific health and safety requirements based on artist request.  Be sure to check our venue website for the latest updates and guidelines as entry requirements are subject to change. \n  URL:https://www.high-noon.com/event/reverend-horton-heat/ LOCATION:High Noon Saloon\, 701 East Washington Avenue\, Madison\, 53703 ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://www.high-noon.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/RHH-HNS-900x600-WEB.jpg END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/Chicago:20221007T213000 DTEND;TZID=America/Chicago:20221007T233000 DTSTAMP:20240328T193021 CREATED:20220909T150047Z LAST-MODIFIED:20220907T211905Z UID:7849-1665178200-1665185400@www.high-noon.com SUMMARY:Mission Trip Album Release DESCRIPTION:  \n\nCOVID-19 POLICY\nBased on the latest local guidelines\, attendees are no longer required to provide proof of negative COVID-19 test AND/OR vaccination for entry into this event. For Brandon Hardesty\, lead vocals and guitar\, it was a simple time\, but one that taught him lessons that stay with him today as he leads the band into the 2020s. One was that he would do whatever it took for him and his band to be successful. Another was in discovering that doing it his way was the only way\, which still applies today. Bumpin Uglies do things their way\, free to play\, think\, and write however they feel\, critics and the mainstream music industry be damned. \nIn the early days\, Hardesty was hustling waiting tables while stoking his musical fire with every minute of free time he had. A point came years ago when he knew it was time to put up or shut up if he was going to make a career as a musician\, so he dug into doing all of the things it takes to grow Bumpin Uglies from a grassroots local band into a nationally touring act. It took a tireless DIY ethic; and it still does\, but if Brandon did not have the singular focus on breaking through and achieving his musical dreams\, the story of Bumpin Uglies wouldn’t be what it is today. \nBumpin Uglies are a band that have hoisted themselves up and forged their own path\, but even as they look around at where they are\, how far they have come\, it is clear to them that there is so much more work to do and they continue to do it every day. With the help of bassist Dave “Wolfie” Wolf\, drummer TJ Haslett and keyboardist / master shredder Chad Wright\, they are doing just that. \nBumpin Uglies recently came off the road\, having to cancel their spring tour due to COVID-19. Brandon and the boys have been keeping their rabid fan group “Uglies Nation” entertained with full band live streams\, hosting socially distant concerts and even a few Drive-In concerts until the world slowly gets back to a place where Bumpin Uglies can tour once again. \nFresh off the successful release of full length\, “Keep your suitcase packed.”\, they are in the midst of a new project called “The Never Ending Drop.” The concept is simple\, yet groundbreaking.. \n“For the last ten years\, we’ve been on what feels like the never ending tour. So in a year where the tour is forced to stop\, we decided to double down on the music making portion of our job description\,” Hardesty explains. The band released their first single\, “Fear\,” in October and plans to release a single per month indefinitely on the second Friday of each month. Revealing her supreme gift for spinning harsh truths into songs that soothe and brighten the soul\, the Kentucky-bred artist ultimately makes an unassailable case for boldly following your heart—a sentiment perfectly encapsulated in No Regular Dog’s raw and radiant title track. \n“I wrote ‘No Regular Dog’ at a time when I was gone so much and working so hard and starting to wonder if I had the staying power to keep it going\,” says Waldon\, who now lives in Ashland City\, Tennessee. “After putting in my time in the van on the road\, after all the blood\, sweat\, and tears and the crying in parking lots\, I’d finally gotten to where I wanted—but it was also a moment when I really started questioning myself. In the end I came around to answer my own question and realize that\, yes\, I can do this. I won’t be put down so easy. I am no regular dog.” \nWaldon’s fourth full-length and the follow-up to 2019’s White Noise/ White Lines—her debut release for John Prine’s Oh Boy Records—No Regular Dog came to life over the course of many charmed and freewheeling sessions at Dave’s Room Studio in Los Angeles\, with production from kindred spirit Shooter Jennings (Brandi Carlile\, Tanya Tucker). “I’d never recorded an album anywhere but Nashville or back home\, and it felt good to get outside my bubble\,” Waldon says. “We were able to hunker down and work till late into night\, doing what we could to catch lightning in a bottle.” \nIn a departure from the more guitar-heavy approach of its predecessor (a critically lauded album that landed on NPR Music’s Best of 2019 list)\, No Regular Dog unfolds in a lush yet understated sound that lets the singular character of Waldon’s songwriting and voice shine through each track. Featuring her longtime band members\, Brett Resnick (pedal steel)\, Alec Newnam (bass)\, and Nate Felty (drums)\, along with musicians like famed guitarist/dobro player Doug Pettibone (Lucinda Williams\, Keith Richards)\, the album also illuminates the immense depth of her musicality\, mining inspiration from such eclectic sources as mid-century bluegrass\, ’60s soul\, and ’70s country-rock. “Everything’s in there\, all the music I’ve ever known and loved\,” says Waldon. “I wanted to show my whole color scheme and create something that’s less of a honky-tonk thing and more like a big\, beautiful picture of everything I see in country music.” \nAfter opening on the luminous strings and pedal steel of its title track—in which Waldon self-identifies as a “prisoner of my mental cages\, my own worst enemy”—No Regular Dog kicks into a much punchier mood on the brightly rambling “Sweet Little Girl.” “It’s about a girl who’s lost her way and now she’s trying to find it\,” says Waldon. “I was inspired by real-life incidents\, like all the thoughts that go through your head when you’re dealing with addiction and feeling like you’ve got this rage inside that you don’t know what to do with.” Graced with the lilting fiddle melodies of Jennings’s longtime collaborator Aubrey Richmond\, the result is a prime showcase for Waldon’s fiercely honest storytelling (from the chorus: “I’ll be crawlin’ up the walls\, just a like a little ol’ house fly/Anything so I can’t feel this hollow inside”). From there\, No Regular Dog shifts into the candid introspection of “Tall and Mighty\,” a bittersweet meditation on getting by in a world bent on breaking you down. “I’d been having conversations with my peers in this business\, especially all my girlfriends who are such amazing songwriters in their own right\, talking about this journey and all the smoke and mirrors of trying to live up to your dream\,” says Waldon. “There have been times when I’ve tried to prove the wrong thing\, but I’m through with that now. I’m not trying to be anybody but myself\, and to write songs that show what’s in my heart and on my mind.” \nA particularly poignant moment on No Regular Dog\, “Season’s Ending” finds Waldon ruminating on the passing of John Prine\, who died from Covid-related complications in April 2020. “That was the first song I wrote after John died—like so many people I was in complete shock\, I couldn’t write for months\,” says Waldon. “There’s been so much loss over the past few years; my partner’s uncle died from Covid the same day as John\, and a lot of my friends have seen family members lose their struggles with addiction or depression. We’ve been carrying such a heavy load\, so this song is about coping with that and trying to understand that death is a part of life.” One of several tracks featuring the heavenly background vocals of Kyshona Armstrong\, Maureen Murphy\, and Nickie Conley\, “Season’s Ending” matches its soulful harmonies and lonesome guitar work with the kind of loving serenade that gently pierces the heart (e.g.\, “And ain’t it just like you to bloom and be gone”). \nIn a creative breakthrough for Waldon\, No Regular Dog also features the first unabashedly joyful love song she’s ever written\, the quietly powerful “Simple as Love.” “I was at home sitting on my back porch and I started thinking about how I’ve got all these heartbreak songs and drinking songs\, but I’m not experiencing any of that anymore\,” she says. “I’m at a point where I’m in a healthy relationship with someone who actually cares about me\, and I wanted to write a song that expresses what love feels like in its purest form.” Laced with cascading guitar tones that glisten like sunlit honey\, “Simple as Love” wholly achieves an ineffable sweetness while spotlighting Waldon’s idiosyncratic brand of poetry (“Like a junkie’s got its itch/It leaves you wantin’ more\, wantin’ all of it/Just like a lily in a ditch/It grows where it wants to grow”). \nOriginally from the tiny rural town of Monkey’s Eyebrow\, Waldon has long relied on music as a lifeline. “I’ve always used songwriting as a way to process the world around me and also process my own thoughts and feelings\,” she says\, naming classic country artists like Loretta Lynn\, George Jones\, and Merle Haggard among her early influences. “If I didn’t have the ability to put all that down on paper\, I think I’d be pretty lost today.” After penning her first song as a small child—“My mom still has lyrics sheets I made when I was about nine\, everything laid out in verse and chorus”—Waldon continued sharpening her craft and eventually left home for Nashville\, where she further honed her chops by playing local bar gigs. Over the coming years\, she put out a series of EPs before making her full-length debut with The Goldmine: a self-released 2014 effort that earned abundant praise from leading outlets like Rolling Stone\, who hailed her as “Tammy Wynette on a trip to Whiskeytown.” Arriving in 2016\, Waldon’s sophomore album I’ve Got a Way drew even more acclaim and appeared on such coveted year-end roundups as the Top 10 Favorite Albums Of 2016 list from Ken Tucker of NPR’s Fresh Air\, with its lead single “All By Myself” featured on NPR’s Top 100 Songs of 2016 list. Several years later\, she performed at the Grand Ole Opry with the likes of Sturgill Simpson and John Prine\, who invited her to join the Oh Boy Records family while up onstage—making Waldon the label’s first new artist signing in 15 years. Co-produced with Dan Knobler (Allison Russell\, Della Mae)\, White Noise/ White Lines delivered such standouts as “Kentucky\, 1988\,” which later topped Rolling Stone’s 25 Best Country and Americana Songs of 2019 list. \nLooking back on the making of No Regular Dog—an album rooted in rigorous self-reflection—Waldon speaks to her newly clarified sense of purpose as a songwriter and artist. “I hope that these songs are able to live with people and help make the world a little better\, because I think that’s a big part of what my job is\,” she says. “At the end of the day\, I’m so thankful for my passion for music because it’s sustained me throughout my whole life\, and now I want it to do the same for other people. And if anyone’s struggling\, I hope they can recognize the ‘No Regular Dog’ within themselves\, and start to see how much they’re really worth.” \nABOUT EMILY NENNI \nNashville-based singer-songwriter Emily Nenni sang her first songs on stage at legendary Robert’s Western World by bribing the band and doorman with cookies. She has since honed in her Honky-Tonk skills in double-wide trailers on Sunday nights\, clubs across the south\, and playing for ranchers and wranglers in Wyoming\, Montana\, and Colorado. In their earliest days\, the pair sounded like My Bloody Valentine remixing Hüsker Dü’s initial SST output\, borrowing from both the positive-minded D.I.Y. all-ages scene they were heavily involved with in L.A.\, as well as healthy amounts of art world stylization. The group would walk the line between these two poles throughout their career\, from flirtations with pop-friendly melodies on their 2008 full-length Nouns to the blurred art rock of 2013’s An Object. – Fred Thomas URL:https://www.high-noon.com/event/no-age/ LOCATION:High Noon Saloon\, 701 East Washington Avenue\, Madison\, 53703 ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://www.high-noon.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/No-Age-Press-Photo.jpeg END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/Chicago:20221013T200000 DTEND;TZID=America/Chicago:20221013T200000 DTSTAMP:20240328T193021 CREATED:20220524T180030Z LAST-MODIFIED:20221011T215906Z UID:7518-1665691200-1665691200@www.high-noon.com SUMMARY:Stop Light Observations DESCRIPTION:Based on the latest local guidelines\, attendees are no longer required to provide proof of negative COVID-19 test AND/OR vaccination for entry into this event. Other shows on our calendar may still have specific health and safety requirements based on artist request.  Be sure to check our venue website for the latest updates and guidelines as entry requirements are subject to change. \n\nABOUT STOP LIGHT OBSERVATIONS \nSLO is a 4-piece anti-pop/not rock (but also isn’t not rock) band born and raised in Charleston\, SC. As Martin Earley and Calin Peters recall\, they laughed while reading it\, knowing that their work as The Ballroom Thieves explores the spirit of that paradigm. Well\, sort of…they’re not interested in easily defined worldviews. \n“We read that article and thought\, ‘how are we supposed to write happy songs right now?'” says Earley. “We don’t write happy songs\, but this time we decided to try something new by pairing optimistic sounding music with dark lyrics. If the listener is not a lyrics person\, they might not notice.” \nThe Ballroom Thieves’ fourth album\, Clouds\, is a song cycle born of mixed experiences and fueled by the power of imagination. The album is a lush meditation on longing to return to touring – to see different sunsets and cities. But\, it’s also a reflection of its difficulties\, e.g.\, insomnia brought on by sleeping in different hotel rooms every night. After a major car accident and the departure of a band member\, the duo has taken the duality of all these experiences and translated them into song. \n“We miss exploring the country\,” says Peters. “The road offers us structure and it gives us something to write about. These past two years we learned just how much we love and need it.” \nAs they leaned into their wanderlust\, themes became apparent – the idea of a life spent in motion (“Shine”)\, the power of the storm representing a relationship transformed into heartbreak (“The Lightning”)\, Man’s ceaseless degradation of resources and Nature’s inevitable fury (“Worldender”)\, and Harry Styles (“Harry Styles”)\, who should be considered a force of Nature as far as Peters and Earley are concerned. “We were sitting around our woodstove\, and Callie looked over at me and said\, ‘I think I’m in love with Harry Styles\,'” Earley recalls. “And my first thought was\, ‘wait a minute\, I love Harry Styles! You can’t have him!’” \nClouds became an opportunity for the band to mine the challenges of the past three years for creative inspiration. \n“We were able to step away from a lot of the big three-part harmonies and for the first time we recorded most of the album live\,” says Earley. “We try to let change inspire us\, even when it comes with difficulty.” \nIt’s an artistic statement that doubles as a life mission. The pair both emphasize that they’ve learned to navigate complicated situations\, including their struggles with depression\, which often colors their songs. If they can impart anything to listeners\, it’s that talking about mental health is not a weakness—and that sharing any of life’s trials can be a source of strength. \n“There’s so much material out there on fighting mental illnesses and keeping our heads up but I think it’s also just important to know that it’s okay to be affected. The human experience can be ugly and difficult and it’s okay to feel things deeply\,” says Peters. “Not every day has to be seized.” \n“I’m so glad it’s more common for people to talk openly about depression these days\, because it can be tough when you think you’re the only one feeling it\,” adds Earley. “We figured if it helps us when others are candid about their experiences with mental illness\, maybe it’ll help someone else if we do the same.” \nClouds will be released on July 15 via Nettwerk Records. While he had years of such gigs on the DIY singer-songwriter circuit behind him\, this night was different. In the audience was one of his musical heroes\, John Prine. When they met briefly beforehand\, Prine\, who never gave praise lightly\, told Arlo he was a fan. \nMcKinley recalls\, “Just that moment\, if that’s where it ended\, it would’ve been one of the coolest things that ever happened to me\, something I remembered forever.” \nBut it didn’t end there. Shortly after\, he was signed to Oh Boy Records\, Prine’s indie label. Arlo came into 2020 with the momentum of a new album on deck – his first with a producer and a street team – and an international tour booked. Then things took a strange turn. \n“Right before the record came out\, my mother passed away\,” he says. “She had always supported me and she didn’t get to see this stuff happen for me. Then one of my best friends died shortly after. And I lost two other friends to drug addiction. I was trying to navigate through all the emotions of that.” \nAnd of course\, like all musicians that year\, he couldn’t tour. \nA soft-spoken introvert who’s open about his past drink and drug addictions\, McKinley had to look to himself to find comfort. And in the process\, he wrote the songs for what’s become his latest release\, the aptly-titled This Mess We’re In. \n“I’m kind of private with a lot of things I go through\, but in my songs\, I’m honest about everything\,” he says with a smile. “So I started to write as a way of getting stuff out. To me\, this is a growth record. I was navigating through a pretty bad time\, but also there was the realization that it’s time to really change\, find a better way of life. My last album was me figuring out whether to stay or go from a very confused spot in my life. This one is trying to better myself – as a musician\, as a human being\, as a friend.” \nWhen talking about his music\, McKinley often uses the word “navigate.” And indeed\, the eleven songs on This Mess We’re In feel like compasses to help orient himself in an uncertain world. The opener “I Don’t Mind\,” an ode to self-forgiveness that gathers a quiet power through each verse\, sets the mood. From the plaintive reckonings of lives in limbo on “City Lights” and “Back Home” to the delicate devastation of “Stealing Dark From The Night Sky” and the catchy\, Neil Young-grooved “Rushintherug\,” through the gorgeous\, widescreen piano-and-strings balladry of the title track and the hymn-like “Here’s To The Dying\,” these are songs that take their time revealing their secrets.  They come from deep inside and go deep inside\, speaking to you through McKinley’s warm\, oaky voice and leaving you a little different than how you came in. They make you feel seen\, recognized. \nThat feeling is borne out by the many personal letters that Arlo receives from fans.  “When I wonder if I’m doing the right thing or not with my life\, these messages make me realize that I am\,” he says. \nA recent memorable one came from a soldier who’d done several tours in Afghanistan. “He said my last two albums were the only thing that got him through. I thought\, ‘I can’t imagine what he saw.’ If the music I was making helped him get through\, that’s a pretty heavy compliment.” Another came from a man who’d been diagnosed with brain cancer. “He said he’d kind of stopped living and wasn’t really present with his wife and kids. He said my record made him really want to enjoy the moments that he had left with them. I invited him out to a show. He came with his family\, and said\, ‘This is the first time I’ve been out in I don’t know how long.’ That’s beyond anything I could ask for. \n“Maybe I get these messages because I write from my experience\,” he reckons.  “I figure if I’m going to put myself out there\, I want to put who I am out there. I think some people relate to that\, like they’re not the only ones going through these darker times. But it’s still crazy that something I’m writing in my bedroom can end up meaning so much to someone.” \nMusic has always had special meaning for McKinley. Born and raised in Cincinnati\, he started singing in Baptist church when he was eight. At home\, the family record collection included everything from George Jones to Otis Redding. As a teen\, inspired by his dad and uncle\, who played guitars in church\, Arlo learned some power chords and figured out every song on the first Social Distortion album. “From there\, I taught myself\,” he says. \nBut a full-time music career was still years away.  Through his twenties and early thirties\, he worked at a record store\, gigged with a duo called The Great Depression and “dabbled in songwriting.” Weirdly\, it wasn’t until he found himself in what seemed like a dead-end job delivering tuxedos that he decided to pursue music. “I did that for years\, driving from Cincinnati to Detroit and back\, but it gave me a lot of time to think and listen to music. That’s when I started writing the songs that led to up to what I’m doing now.” \nHe self-released his first album\, Arlo McKinley & The Lonesome Sound\, in 2014 when he was thirty-five. It may have seemed he was getting a late start. But he entered the game almost fully-formed\, without any immature or embarrassing skins to shed. He says\, “I wouldn’t have been able to write about what I’m writing now or been very relatable if I hadn’t lived the thirty-something years before I started writing.” \nLike his last album Die Midwestern – which Rolling Stone praised for its “songs of heartbreak\, restlessness and hard-won experience” and NPR called “personal and moving” –  the latest was cut at Sam Phillips Recording Service in Memphis with an ace band that includes drummer Ken Coomer\, guitarist Will Sexton and keyboardist Rick Steff.  McKinley says\, “That studio is like a time capsule. There’s just a feel where you can tell there’s been some great stuff made in there – Elvis\, Jerry Lee\, Roy Orbison. Really though\, more than the studio\, it’s the band and the producer.” \nOf Matt Ross-Spang\, who’s worked with Jason Isbell and Margo Price\, McKinley says\, “He completely gets what I’m trying to do. I sent Matt guitar-vocal demos of fifteen songs. He would show them to the band right before we’d go out to record\, so a lot of these songs\, the musicians are making up these parts on the spot. Jessie Munson did the string arrangements. She comes up with really pretty lines.” \nThe addition of strings brought a cinematic dimension to McKinley’s music that accentuates his feel for romantic melancholy. “I love Nick Drake and Nick Cave\, how their songs can be very simple but sound big\,” he says. “Wes Anderson movies too. I love how he’ll use music in a very simple scene to evoke a big emotion. I think this album conveys a mental picture a lot more than stuff I’ve done previously. It’s more than just a collection of songs. You can visualize things.” \nAs McKinley visualizes the year ahead\, he’s optimistic that touring will be easier\, and that he’ll get to play Europe for the first time this summer. When asked what he hopes listeners will get from This Mess We’re In\, he says\, “I hope they can identify with things they’re too ashamed to talk about or feel. There’s such a stigma that goes along with things like addiction and mental health. I just want them to know that I go through all of that stuff too. I would just like to make them feel a little less alone. At least for the 47 minutes of the album\, you can remove yourself from the world and just let everything disappear for a bit.” URL:https://www.high-noon.com/event/arlo-mckinley-2/ LOCATION:High Noon Saloon\, 701 East Washington Avenue\, Madison\, 53703 ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://www.high-noon.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/ArloMcKinleyAlbumShoot_EmmaDelevante-1571_0004-scaled.jpg END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/Chicago:20221017T190000 DTEND;TZID=America/Chicago:20221017T210000 DTSTAMP:20240328T193021 CREATED:20220824T165916Z LAST-MODIFIED:20220824T165916Z UID:7802-1666033200-1666040400@www.high-noon.com SUMMARY:Smarty Pints Trivia DESCRIPTION:Registration – 6PM / Trivia – 7PM \n\n\n\nJoin us for Smarty Pints themed trivia once a month at High Noon Saloon! \n\n\n\nDream Day Entertainment is back hosting fun live trivia shows with new themes each month! \n\n\n\nAssemble your family or friends or play on your own! It was a huge relief\, with safety on everyone’s minds\, to know that the efforts were paying off\,” says Carbon Leaf frontman Barry Privett. \n“The systems worked very well we were able to connect through live music once again. When we got home in December\, we went right to work writing and recording. We wanted this album to have a little bit more fun than our 2021 release\, Gathering 2: The Hunting Ground. This new album will be expanding that neighborhood\, musing on space and time\, and the brief moment we get to experience it as Earthlings\, if you will.” \nThe ongoing Gathering series the band has been working on over the last few years is all about building community. \n“It’s a call to look inwards and find what matters\, an invitation to reach out and embrace the gifts of human connection.” Privett says. \nThat’s no mean feat given the deep divisions that have defined much of the past few years of American life\, but Carbon Leaf has always punched above their weight\, defying the odds at every turn and redefining what’s possible for a modern indie band in the process. The group’s extraordinary new mini-album\, Gathering 2: The Hunting Ground\, is no exception. Recorded at the band’s own studio in Richmond\, VA\, the collection marks the second installment of the group’s four-part Gathering series\, which finds the long-running quintet stripping their sound back to its organic\, acoustic core as they reckon with our ever-conflicting desires for unity and independence. The songs here are gutsy and probing\, grappling with grief\, loss\, anger\, and pain\, and the arrangements are aggressive and insistent to match\, fueled by layers of relentlessly strummed guitars\, rolling banjo\, and lush fiddle. The result is a moving\, cathartic collection that’s unafraid to confront darkness and doubt head on\, a poignant\, revelatory record all about the power of self-reflection and the ties that bind. \n“One of the big questions we found ourselves grappling with as a band was\, ‘How do you actually make any kind of a difference in society today?’” says Privett. “And I don’t think you can do that without first looking inwards—to yourself\, your family\, your friends—and figuring out what your values truly are.” \nAnyone who’s caught a Carbon Leaf show over the past three decades probably has a pretty good idea just what those values are: brotherhood\, commitment\, empathy\, integrity\, self-reliance. Founded at Randolph-Macon College in 1992\, the group evolved from a houseparty cover band into something far more profound after graduation\, when they moved to Richmond and made the shift to original music. The band’s first three albums helped build a devoted cult following\, but it was 2001’s Echo Echo that truly brought Carbon Leaf to national attention\, with lead single “The Boxer” earning the group a performance slot in front of millions of viewers at the American Music Awards. After nearly ten years of self-releasing and grinding it out on the road (both as headliners and as guests appearing on bills alongside the likes of Dave Matthews Band\, O.A.R.\, Jason Mraz\, Blues Traveler\, and Guster\, among others)\, the band signed with Vanguard Records in 2004 for their critical and commercial breakthrough\, Indian Summer\, which yielded a Top 5 hit at AAA radio and garnered rave reviews everywhere from The Washington Post to WXPN. While the band would go on to release two more similarly well-received albums with Vanguard\, it soon became obvious to everyone that independence wasn’t simply an ideal for Carbon Leaf\, but rather an integral part of their DNA\, and so in 2010\, the band parted ways with the label in order to return to their DIY roots and take complete and total control of their career. Acting as their own label\, distributor\, and manager\, the band cut new versions of all three Vanguard albums in order to regain the rights to the recordings\, launched their own festival\, and began releasing a successful series of direct-to-fan concert films\, livestreams\, and studio records leading up to the first installment of the Gathering series in 2018. \n“The initial idea for these Gathering albums was to get a bunch of our musical friends together in the studio for a weekend and make something really communal and collaborative\,” explains Privett. “We had some of our pals from We Banjo 3 join in on Volume 1\, but for the second installment we decided to strike out on our own because the songs just felt more personal and introspective.” \nThough Carbon Leaf had traditionally embraced a wall of sound approach in the studio\, this time around they went back to the basics\, focusing on raw\, acoustic arrangements that placed the storytelling front and center. With guitarist Terry Clark handling engineering duties\, the band—Privett\, Clark\, stringed instrument wizard Carter Gravatt\, bassist Jon Markel\, and drummer Jesse Humphrey—captured performances on and off over the course of roughly six months\, experimenting with a wide variety of instruments and mic placements to generate a series of immersive\, transportive sonic landscapes. \n“Space was a big thing for us when we were making these recordings\,” says Clark. “Moving the microphones further away so we could really capture the room and the air helped add lot of the character and dimension these songs needed.” \nWhile some of the tracks here began life as instrumental demos from Gravatt\, others first took shape as acapella lyrical or melodic ideas from Privett. Regardless of where each tune began\, though\, the finished product would inevitably wind up bearing the unmistakable fingerprints of all five bandmates\, whose infectious chemistry consistently yields more than the sum of its parts. \n“We like to take a world-building approach in the studio\,” says Privett. “We’ll stack things up and layer them on top of each other until we’ve got something that sounds way beyond just five guys in a room together.” \nThat alchemy is obvious from the outset on The Hunting Ground\, which opens with the churning “Everything’s Alright Mama.” Mixing gritty Appalachian folk with lilting Celtic influences\, the track begins with both feet on the ground and builds into a soaring work of bittersweet beauty\, balancing the mundane and the magical in equal measure as it reaches out into the void for connection. Like much of the album\, it’s a bright\, up tempo tune\, but dig beneath the surface and you’ll find an underlying sense of sadness that permeates the often-impressionistic lyrics. The driving “Her Father’s Pride\,” for instance\, grapples with division on both a personal and a communal scale\, while the rollicking “Smokey Joe Of The Poconos” explores what happens to those left behind in the name of progress\, and the mesmerizing “Pale Blue Dot” zooms out to contemplate our place and our purpose in the greater scheme of the universe. It’s perhaps the muscular title track\, though\, that best encapsulates the sense of questioning and longing that defines the collection\, with Privett singing\, “Is this all we have\, the natural world? Is anyone around?” \n“The idea of the hunting ground is that it’s this place where you’re searching for something out in the great wild unknown\,” says Privett. ”How do you process grief? How do you fix your soul in the face of losing someone you care about? How do you carry on when life doesn’t go the way you’d planned?” \nIn the end\, of course\, there are no easy answers to these questions\, and that’s precisely the point. The hunt is an endless one\, but it doesn’t need to be lonely. We’re all in the search together\, and after more than a year of distance and isolation\, it’s hard to think of anything we need more than a good old fashioned gathering URL:https://www.high-noon.com/event/carbon-leaf/ LOCATION:High Noon Saloon\, 701 East Washington Avenue\, Madison\, 53703 ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://www.high-noon.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/CarbonLeaf-HNS-WEB.jpg END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/Chicago:20221019T190000 DTEND;TZID=America/Chicago:20221019T233000 DTSTAMP:20240328T193021 CREATED:20220719T170137Z LAST-MODIFIED:20220817T221740Z UID:7648-1666206000-1666222200@www.high-noon.com SUMMARY:Dead Poet Society DESCRIPTION:Based on the latest local guidelines\, attendees are no longer required to provide proof of negative COVID-19 test AND/OR vaccination for entry into this event. Other shows on our calendar may still have specific health and safety requirements based on artist request.  Be sure to check our venue website for the latest updates and guidelines as entry requirements are subject to change. \n\n \n  URL:https://www.high-noon.com/event/dead-poet-society/ LOCATION:High Noon Saloon\, 701 East Washington Avenue\, Madison\, 53703 ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://www.high-noon.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/DPS-HNS-Web.jpg END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
