The High Noon Saloon is hosting the 11th Annual Bob Marley Birthday Bash with Madison's own reggae ambassadors Natty Nation, Chicago's Akasha, & local DJ crew Tropical Riddims Sound System, hosts of the Saturday reggae show by the same name on WORT FM, for a celebration of Bob Marley's music 3 days after what would have been the icon's 74th birthday.

Bob Marley's musical and cultural influences have engendered reggae's explosive growth. His brilliant blend of the hypnotic danceable beats and messages of peace, love and justice established reggae as an enduring popular musical genre.

2019 marks Natty Nation's 25th year of keeping the positive messages of their unique indigenous Wisconsin reggae beats throbbing through the heartland. Natty Nation's members pride themselves on playing original music, but now for the 11th year in a row the band honors Bob Marley's legacy by paying tribute to the king of reggae during his birthday month.

Chicago roots-reggae five-piece Akasha expertly blend heavy dub grooves and the creamy vocals of singer Cosmos Ray. Their new album, "Mother of Exiles," dropped on December 7th, on long-running Jamaican-inspired label JUMP UP RECORDS, and it features their most stridently political material yet. According to Ray, the album "addresses complex issues such as immigration, discrimination, and oppression, but with an approach infused by love, service, and unity." Listen here: geni.us/AkashaMoE

The music starts early with Tropical Riddims spinning as soon as the doors open at 7:00 PM, followed by sets by Akasha at 8:00 PM, and Natty Nation at 9:30.
