Instead We Smile
Instead We Smile
A female-fronted, hard rock four-piece that sounds something like Patti Smith singing with a morphing of The MC5 and Pink Floyd.
El Donk
El Donk
Besides being the least-tattooed band in town, El Donk is Madison's preeminent cult/rock band. Winners of the 2005 Madison Area Music Award for Best Artist (other). Now halfway through their second decade in Madison, El Donk continues to build on fan/cult favorite traditions like the "Cakewalk," "Donksgiving," and "Zappa's Birthday."

A mix of rock, punk, reggae, jazz, funk, and prog rock, El Donk's musical style changes from song to song—and sometimes in the same song. Long veterans of Max Ink's experimental Bomblastica shows, El Donk has been called upon to play their own version of classic material by David Bowie, The Doors, and—notably—Pink Floyd. As 2013 is the 20th anniversary of the Waco fire, they are readying plans to perform their rock opera "Waco: A Koresh Line" for the first time in its entirety.
